Finnstone if you want to see an arena show there are still O2 tickets....
Many pubs in London... Kippis!

Yeah I know, I was very close to booking for the 26th, i found some really good floor tickets. I have to be there really but i spent my Stones budget on going to Dusseldorf and I couldn't leave my wife behind again. Two tix for the O2 floor cost 330 pounds. I'll sit here in Finland and shed a few tears instead.

but I'll start saving for the next (arena)tour!

Yes. There will be another stadium tour, I think they'll start in 2009.I hope so.

there'll be an arena tour of the US next spring/summer.

I think you may be right Gazza simply because I'm spending money I really shouldn't to go to the last O2 show "just in case" it's the final one. If I didn't, it would be, but since I am making the trek, it should pretty much guarantee a few more shows.

I hope Ronnie will do some more solo gigs in the meantime.
Maybe in the Bonbonniere in Maastricht.

Man, I hope you're right! How did you hear about that?

I can get to West coast USA quite easily if they don't play Hawaii...which they typically don't....

Bjornulf first mentioned the proposed 2008 tour of North America around last October or November and he stated that he was hearing it would hit a lot of secondary markets, taking advantage of the success they had in places like Wichita, Missoula and Regina last fall. He hinted recently that this option is looking more certain than ever.

My own belief is we saw the last of the long world tours when the 2006 tour ended in Vancouver on November 25th. While this tour of Europe is called the A Bigger Bang tour, I believe it is actually the beginning of the new touring model for the Stones: roughly 3 months out of a year playing 1 region of the world with the rest of the year taken off for side projects or relaxation.

I anticipate a tour of North America beginning next May or June and that they will tour for around 3 months next year. While it likely will be considered the Shine A Light tour and not another leg of the A Bigger Bang tour, I think it may end up being the second year of the new Stones working model that began with the 3 months of touring this year. As we've seen this year, the band does not feel the need to really emphasize songs from a new album, so I don't think they feel the need anymore to tour behind a new studio album.

I think if the band is enjoying this new, relaxed touring schedule, then 2009 may bring a return to Europe for 3 months of touring. The band toured for roughly 2-3 months per year in most years from 1969-1978 with North America and Europe being alternated from year to year. I think this may again become the norm for their touring for the remainder of their career. It's a much easier commitment for each member to make, allowing them to not have to plan out something so massive and time consuming as these long world tours and letting them still feel the fun in live performing. The band clearly loves to play live, but when you do world tours lasting over a year, it's really necessary to kae off 1-2 years between them just to try to get some normalcy in their lives, but there's no reason they can't tour every year when the time commitment is so much smaller. There are many other acts who do tour every year, where they do have long periods of the year off.

LOL..if I answered that, I doubt I'd ever be give another scrap of info - but suffice to say there appears to be something in the planning stages.

I think they owe you guys a show after last year's disgraceful episode. I hope you get it.

Maybe so, but if they don't start pulling some songs from the catalog word will spread fast and ticket sales will suffer. A lot of fans will not shell out big bucks to hear songs that have been constantly rehashed over and over for yet another time.

I don't believe they have any plans for another tour at the moment.
I think in their own minds they regard this one being the last. But they might think differently in a years time or so and it they do and they're all in good health, they might start another tour in 2009 and that will surely then be the last.
One has to be realistic. They're getting older and older and a couple of them have had a life style that wears out the body. Mick have had trouble with voice sometimes and dear old Charlie have had his illness to battle.
I surely would like them to continue, but somehow it seem less and less likely to me. Maybe I'm wrong...then you can throw things after me and I'll receive it with a smile :-)

I hope you're ready to pay in excess of $500 to sit in pretty ordinary seats and watch the event on a distant video screen. Personally, thats where I choose to opt out.

emphasis on the *sit* also. watch out for american crowds, kent. they may lack your, ahem, enthusiasm. unless i'm in the house, that is!

anyway, i'm fairly optimistic about an arena tour next year (should i start begging my parents for money already?) - but we have to keep 'mortality' in mind. memento mori, after all . . .

or maybe Vegas....

I'm hoping they play Red Rocks in Morrison, CO! What a great venue and they can book it for 3 shows since it only seats 9,500 people. Hopefully someone gets this idea to the Stones people and they listen! I am obsessed with this idea and won't stop until it happens! Hee hee. Yeah, one can dream, right?

no doubt they will tour again, and it will be a world tour with the big press conf as usual, my prediction is 09-10 world tour

Nahhhhh, I would rather they play smaller venues. I'm thinking I may have to travel out of the Chicagoland area to get a smaller place to see them. When they come here, they always play Soldier Field (football stadium) and it is just too big to really enjoy them.

Eh? Theyve played arena shows in Chicago in 1981, 1998, 1999, 2002, 2003 and in 2006...plus theatre shows in 1997 and 2002. and on Licks the stadium show was in Comiskey Park, which is surely a bit smaller than Soldier Field...

They will be back, I dont belive in a 2 years world tour again, but we will see them within 3 years I guess.

Yes, Comiskey is much smaller. But, I wasn't able to see any shows on that tour, unfortunately. I was unemployed at the time. I've only seen them at Alpine Valley in Wisconsin, the Soldier Field shows, and United Center.

Peronally, I would like to see them take two years off. Promote Shine a Light a little bit next year, but focus on relaxing. Then hit the studio (with Rick Rubin, but that's a nother topic...) and record a stripped down album in 2009. A small arena tour in fall 2009 in the States. Same thing for Europe in spring 2010. Then a big break until the 50th anniversary world tour 2012. After that I don't know what to expect. But I think we will definitely see one more massive world tour for the 50th anniversary.

There be little interest if they play these large venues in the States

Nah it won't cause sales to suffer at all. The usual suspects who whine incessantly about it will buy tickets anyway.
