I was talking to some friends the other day about The Stones future, and some of them have this idea that after the London Shows Mick will quit the band for good, they figure that he must be tired of carrying the band for such a long time and with Keith being "messed up" whether from legal or illegal substances, and with his playing been at best average during this tour, that Mick has had enough,he will concentrate on producing movies, etc, but no more tours or Stones. l think is an iteresting theory. What the rest of you think?

Like that..
Mick is singing and performing at such a high level, how could he quit. And, how can he be more famous and powerful than with the Stones!
Plus, he sure seems to love his family and children. And, he sure has a lot of them. Plus, him and his family sure seem to appreciate the 'good life'- remember, his children will have children (many estates with many maids and fancy cars...).
But, then again, anything is possible. That is why appreciating the 'now' is the highest priority for all of us.

did anyone ever see "being John Malcovich?" I think what happens to John Malchovich in that movie is what will happen with Mick after the tour is over.
He'll re invent himself as pupeteer, but it wont really be him. A porthole to his brain will be open and a pupeteer will vie for control over it.

in this universe everything is possible, other thing is if something like Mick quitting is likely. I dont think so. I dont see anyone quitting" the Stones at this stage. after tour end, there will obiously be a break. they may continue with more tours, or they wont continue. there will be no official announcement like "Stones retire". if they retire, it will just happen and we know only afterwards, after a couple of years.

Money will NOT be the motivation for another tour. At this point in time the only motivation for another will be nothing more than the fact they themselves wish to embark upon another one, that's it. A certain amount of money (quite rightly so) will just be something they earn as a reward for doing it, but it will not be the sole motivating force. Do you not think that each and every one of them have quite enough of the stuff for this and several further lifetimes ? It may well have been the motivating force behind stepping out on the big tours of the 80's and early to mid 90's, but no longer. IF they go out, they wanna get paid for it for sure - and it would only be fair that they do, but they've gone way beyond the point of "doing it for the money" these days.
I dont think they do it "for the money" per se, because obviously they have no actual need for it. More a case of doing it for the boost to their egoes that they can actually make so much of it as they can get away with, which is a subtle difference. That plus of course the fact that they still enjoy it and have been doing it so long that they maybe wont be able to adjust to a life without it.
If the ego issue wasnt a factor, the tickets would simply cost a lot less and we would never see the various scams and gimmicks that we're all well aware of.

What a good point!

What a big surprise! I agree with alimente... "In this universe everything is possible", indeed!
So after 64 years and performing for 45 of these years all of a sudden Mick will get tired and old just like that? I don't think so. Did not look like he is getting old at all the other day. Take a look at how he is jumping up and down just for the fun of it at the B-stage...
