OH MAN! Were you at Monterey the night Otis played, too? And Love at Bido's... Good God!

Stones aside (and I've never seen Bruce), I'd have to go with...

Sex Pistols - '96 reunion tour
Radiohead - about 8 times between '95-'98 - amazing every single time
R.E.M. - Sept. '89, Green Tour
Chili Peppers - April '90, Mother's Milk tour
Rev. Horton Heat - always good, though I haven't seen him in 10 years
Too Much Joy - T.T. The Bear's (Cambridge, MA) in '91 and then their reunion show this past May
Redd Kross - reunion show in NYC last September

Next best would have to be Tina Turner, then Janis Joplin, then Dylan, and I thought John Denver's shows were excellent too.

Forgive me for adding this one, and while it certainly wasn't the best Non Stones concert I've attended I must admit it was very good and I enjoyed every minute of it: Michael Jackson Victory Tour 1984

You're kidding, right?

Parker being Dutch (which Elvis never knew) was the REASON he never toured overseas. He was an illegal alien

Yeah rooster thats sad that Elvis never played any shows outside of usa exept in canada in 1957.there are many teories about it,parker being duch and not being a usa citizen problem,Elvis drug use and him not going anywhere without guns, not economical enough ect, ect,as I said there are lots of teories.

but to have seen Elvis live that would have been the ultimate concert experience for me thats for shure.

wouldnt it be great to put on your "Elvis live at wembley" cd/LP right now
allthoug elvis did so many great and wonderful things in his 23 year carer ,unfortunately there also was so many sad missed opportunities, like a world tour ,better movies, and more filmed performances like the show in hawaii in 1961 with hank garland and boots randolf and the return to the stage in 1969.and pro live recordings from the 50´s

Parker continually doing anything to sabotage the offers of any overseas promoters was the only reason. He had an ulterior motive which the public weren't aware of at the time.

No way was it anything to do with something like drugs or guns....and it certainly wasnt down to there not being enough money in it. Elvis was offered money for a show at Wembley Stadium in the early 70s which would have dwarfed anything paid to any other artist in history. Parker's reply was "that will be enough for ME. How much are you going to pay for 'my boy'?". He simply wasnt interested in geting him to work overseas as by not being able to leave the US, he wouldnt have total control (When Presley was in the army in Germany, Parker never left the US in the 18 months Elvis was overseas).

When you grasp how big Elvis actually WAS around the world, the fact that he was able to be such a huge star despite never having performed outside the US (apart from 3 Canadian shows in 1957 which didnt require the appropriate passport documents) is quite staggering.

Agree with what you say about so many missed opportunities. Thats what happens unfortunately when you have a manager whose only motivation was to make money regardless of the damage the hunger for doing so does to your reputation. Sounds a bit familiar, eh? LOL

Yeah Gazza i never brought the drugs and gun teories neither regarding a world tour, allthroug I dont doubt that Elvis loved drugs and guns,I was just telling some of the teories that I have read about and that is out there.

But regarding that parker was a illegal citizen, parker could easy have other promoters helping him out, going to Europe with Elvis,
but no way was parker going to take the chance that others would show to Elvis that there was other ways of handeling his career,he was holding on to Elvis like a lxodes ricinus, sucking on his golden goose, till Elvis was so fead up that he got clinic depressed.

but going right back to vegas doing 2 shows a night for a month after such a big event as the aloha show in ´73 was very bad for Elvis, and just touring the states going from one auditorium to the next was just getting Elvis depressed and into a rut it was the movie years all over again,Elvis was and is loved all over the world and there was not anywhere that Elvis could not have performed.

If Elvis had toured the world after aloha it would have giving him the challenge that he needed as a performer, and maybe just maybe he would not have taking so many drugs, and then maybe he would still be alive today.(that is if you dont believe the kathy westmoreland, charlie hodge, and dr nick stories that Elvis had bone cancer,I dont) or the I saw Elvis at mcdonald stories,LOL

Badfinger! To have seen Pete Ham and Tom Evans would have been very special indeed. Still haunting to watch "Baby Blue" video on You Tube. Also, I don't know how their families can listen to "Without You"

Wow,now that is a legitamately tough question. Here's a few I remember

ACDC - Right after the Let There Be Rock Album was released. In a small club. Angus Young jammed on top of my table.

Led Zeppelin - Oakland Coliseum, last ever american show

Bruce Springsteen - Oakland indoors. Forget the year
David Bowie-About 3 years ago at the Berkeley Community Theatre
John Fogerty - The same year I think in a small club in San Francisco
Bob Seger-Earlier this year in Oakland
Sammy Hagar - Many years ago at Winterland opening for Dave Mason and blowing him off the stage. It was right after the Red album came out and he finished playing but did'nt do an encore. But the crowd went so wild he to come back out and say "I'll jump up and down and do mtricks for you. But I don't have any more songs to play."
The Who/Grateful Dead - Oakland Coliseum
The Grateful Dead - Orpheum Theatre San Francisco
Paul McCartney & Wings - Cow Palace
