waddy could be band leader...or he could hire Chuck! i have this feeling Keith will try the winos again..but sailing off into the sunset sounds good to me..especially with cash they have..

Most will take some time off. Mick starts thinking about the next tour. Only very expensive arena gigs. Starting late 2008. Just my opinion
actually - my money is on a return to the States in early '08 - I don't think they are ready to completely fold the tent on this tour, actually - and the ramp-up costs and time associated with starting a new one from scratch are enormous. the crew is usually the first ones that get notified - so if anyone has heard anything from them regarding a tour extension, that would be a tip....
I don't know StonesTod, down to 18 songs? I think Jagger's pretty burnt out (they did 14 songs on the '69 tour - without any Keith solo's - they're 2 away from that since they're really only doing 16 songs with Mick. 69 was considered long in 1969 compared to the earlier 30 minute Beatles and Stones shows but it sure is a short concert these days - whole thing can fit on one CD if they ever expanded Ya-Ya's) Think about it ONLY 2 songs away from back then !!! Says a lot to me... FULL CIRCLE?
i don't think number of songs is a metric that foreshadows their imminent retirement. dylan does 16 songs a night and there's not a chance he's about to retire....some will say it's an apples/oranges comparison....maybe, but again I don't think they're thinking about call it a day just yet....if ever

any gossip I've heard indicates that there are no current plans for any extension of the tour after London.
Last year the talk of a fall US tour started around March, as I recall. The tour was announced in July and started September 20. If theyre going to tour in spring 2008, using that yardstick, you would expect to hear rumours pretty soon.
A spring 2008 return to the US is what, 7 months after the current leg ends? Thats the same time frame as the gap between the 2006 leg and the tour we're half way through right now. So, if Europe 2007 is 'starting from scratch' then a spring 2008 of the US would effectively be the same thing.
Theres already been well-informed talk here a few days ago of Charlie tentatively planning some jazz shows in spring 2008
I think its already been mentioned that Ian McLagan was recently quoted as having been told personally by Ronnie that after August 2007, the Stones wont be touring anymore.

Yeah but look at Dylan's schedule/itinerary - he plays 3 or 4 nights in a row in different towns, still travels by tour bus often I believe... He's a HARD CORE road rat. Also, I think since the Tom Petty tours in the 80's he's always been a "short set man"... used to see him alot around the SILVIO days and you were lucky if you got 90 minutes.....

Harm, I like your opinion better than Gazza's!
But I do think they will take at least a year break before the adrenalin flow is missed and then if they are all in good health they might start thinking of a "small" tour....
Think after Micks solo is released he will do a handful of dates to promote it. After almost 2 years of solid touring they need a deserved rest! For a couple years I'd say.
Let's all hope they come back again at some point in the future after Europe 2007. Mick is likely to do something to promote his next album , after that who knows?
Mick's only ever toured behind one of his solo albums before - and that was almost 20 years ago when he toured Japan and Australia after "Primitive Cool" came out. Wouldnt out much hope for a tour behind a compilation, released hot on the heels of a Stones tour.
Personal guess is he'll probably spend a bit more time involved in film production from 2008. He obviously enjoys that but hasnt really been able to devote much time to it in the last few years.

You seemed less optimistic on here a few months ago, as I recall!
I hope you're right. Good news indeed if its true.

Sounds good to me BUT, i would like to know if this comment is something you'd wish oris it something you have heard?
Some think the Stones plan their life and then just do it according to the plans. Not so. I see the message is shifting and the message now is there might be more shows. Not this year but may be next year. I have heard that message before but now it is stronger.

You mean, that you hope it? I really don't believe it. This should be the final tour. It would be best for the band and the fans if they pack it in, while they still can deliver. Someday soon they won't be able to do that....and then they won't be the greatest rock'n'roll band anymore. I would hare to see that.
There will be no more details. May be next year. I am not a fan of speculations. I hear a lot, and when that "a lot" makes sense I will write about it.

Fair enough. But then it might be a bit premature to write about more touring :-)
