Great Setlist.

I don't think there was something like a curfew i.e. a limit for the show time wise. There was a big fair in the city, and one hour after the Stones finished i.e. around 01:45 in the morning they did some big big fireworks with noise in a leven that would wake up even deaf people. So they probably had their own curfew. Even the Stones have to go to bed eventually... and the fans... But the show was great!

This was to be a special show for me. Not only was it my last of the ABB tour on a full moon night, but is was number 100 for my friend and Stones addict, Colin, who passed away in February and had so wanted to reach 100 shows. I had promised his mother I would see number 99 and 100 in his honor. Madrid was 99 and this was to be 100. When I bought my tickets on the internet in California in section A first row seat 10 I thought I was in the first section by the stage but when I got there it turned out section E was the closest and section A was miles away! What to do? So I prayed to the Rolling Stones Gods and Colin´s spirit led me to two great young guys from Jerez, seeing the Stones for the first time, who let me share their seats in the front row of the first section by the stage, first seat on the aisle right in front of the extension of the stage and level with the center mike. No security and no hassle and everyone mellow. The Boys exploded onto the stage and were all on fire tonight. I thought Keith was brilliant and at one point he was on his knees grinning in front of me. Mick - what to say? We danced the night away. All I could do was send them all love and thanks for the wonderful wonderful moments in my life and all they have given me. Charlie was amazing and Ronnie rocked. Midnight Rambler, yes yes. So I left the stadium with joy in my heart and the hope of seeing them again back in San Francisco in a year or two. Long Live the Rolling Stones!

Oh yes, and I forgot to add that we were treated to an incredible firework show on the walk back to the hotel from a local fiesta! Amazing.

Hey Paulywaul and Beast - sorry for all your hassles and the crowd around you wasn´t great. I was lucky in that respect. Still it´s the show that counts and you are so lucky to be continuing on.... enjoy and buen viaje a Rome.

El Ejido is not a city you would go to for a holiday or for pleasure, unless the Rolling Stones are playing there, or you go to meet people. It is built around one main purpose, and that is to produce fruit and vegetables. Most of the area is covered by plastic houses being used for farming, so wherever you look, wherever you go, it basically looks like this:



The stadium itself is rather small and most of the 30,000 crowd capacity for the Stones show was on the field/pitch. As you walk from the stadium and take a look at the city it looks like this:



There are very few restaurants in the city. In fact there are not much culture. The city could need something to please the people who live there but who I am to tell I was just a tourist for 36 hours and except for walking all over the city for the show and places to eat I did not see much. But if you take the bus 7 km out to the sea and the urbanization and slightly touristic Almerimar city you will have this:



Don't make me wrong. The people of El Ejido were great and everything was smooth. But from two travels to Almeria and El Ejido in one year (yes I was here last year too) I would not go to El Ejido for vacation. May be Almeria city, but rather Alicante or Malaga or some totally different place. I would probably stay at home actually.

In Bucharest there are hundreds of appartment blocks nearby the stadium with maybe a hundred thousand people living around; no problem if the Stones will be playing until three o'clock in the morning, it will just be a night to remember...

el ejido is rather like the Fresno of California! No reason at all to go there unless the Stones are there or you want to see lots of tomatoes, etc growing! The Grand Hotel Victoria was great tho. Sorry so many people had hotel and plane problems. I was lucky.

there is curfew in Germany - that's why they always start in daylight in Germany and it gets dark in the middle of the show.

Not sure about Holland though,

well of course it depends if it's club, stadium, field gig and where it takes place big town, small city, village, or in the middle of nowhere.

Yeah! In some places in SouthAmerica "Catch" (coger) it means something more explicit...
By the way the report is great, all though this couple of mistakes.

I agree with Sarahunwin and BV, the Stones were great last night and the public enjoyed the concert. I liked more the set list of Madrid for example, but I have better feelings from El Ejido concert.

Regarding El Ejido, El Ejido is symply a rich and developping country area which the local government has enough money to contract the Stones. And really the organization got a friendly atmosphere. 4 big parking areas with free bus transportation to the concert, a healthy and nice free drinking (gazpacho) for everybody, etc.
By other hand, El Ejido is not a place for holidays, but just 40 km from there there are good beaches. It is the same for me if I see the Stones in Phoenix. The Stones are the objective, not Phoenix.

The video footage from that news report looked pretty good quality and sounded well balanced. Wonder how much footage there is and if it will ever escape ?
