I was there last night. It was a super show, Ronnie played amazing and Richards put a lot of feeling in his notes. When the show finished Jagger, seems to be ready to do another show more. Charlie played with the same perfection as a Swiss clock. Everything was fine and the set list was perfect. Nothing told that I was en El Ejido if you closed your eyes and listened, perfectly you could say I´m in NY. What I mean is that the Stones was extremely professionals as ussually.Great big bang in Almeria.

The Rank Outsider. Seen The Rolling Stones live x 3.

In the cold light of day, we fared not TOO badly I suppose. I mean at least we GOT THERE and SAW THE SHOW !! OK, out of the three components (flights, hotels, and Stones TICKETS !!) we got f***ed on two out of the three ... in a nutshell this is what happened to us, "us" being myself, Beast, BarRoomQueen and Mr Jimmy. We were all travelling together.

Our troubles started in Madrid on the 28th. I downloaded an e-mail on my mobile from the hotel internet booking company saying that our hotel in El Ejido was NOT AVAILABLE, and in this respect they offered an alternative - about 20-25 kms down the road !! I ought to mention at this point in time that in my possession I had a CONFIRMATION VOUCHER for presentation to the hotel at check-in dating back to 23rd MARCH !! After exploring other options with no success whatsoever, we decided to accept the alternative they offered. I replied to them within the 24 hr deadline, asking them to confirm they'd received my response. NOTHING ! Contacted them a second time, still NOTHING. So, deciding to err on the side of caution and assuming that they'd not received my reply and therefore freed up the "alternative" they'd offered, we ended up securing 3 rooms in a hotel in ALMERIA, a cool 39 kms from El Ejido.

When we arrived in Malaga on the 29th (the day after the Madrid show), we rented a car. We spent the night in Malaga, and after booking these rooms in ALMERIA, set off on a 200 km drive. The drive took us right past El Ejido, and in the process of going to the stadium to pick up our tickets, we spotted the El Ejido hotel that we'd been bumped from, so we went in to get the story. The manager there said that he had REPLIED within 24 hours to the internet booking company that he could NOT accomodate us, so in effect putting the blame on THEM for not bothering to tell ME about it for over three months !! O well, now that I'm back, one to sort out.

We got to our hotel in ALMERIA, dumped the bags, ate, and then got back to the stadium. And THEN, to top it all, we (myself, Beast and BRQ) found three people sitting in our seats (Mr Jimmy had a GA ticket). At this point the Stones were due on in literally 5 minutes, so we had little choice to take up some other seats he offered us ... which NEEDLESS to SAY were NOT quite as good as the ones we had bought !!

Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaagh scream yell rant rave roar ................... !!

HOWEVER, all in all we're lucky and privileged bastards I suppose, because between us all we'd already been to Isle Of Wight, Paris, Lyon, Barcelona, San Sebastian, Lisbon, and Madrid ... and on Friday I shall be in Rome. So I suppose it would be fair to say that we just thanked our lucky stars that we actually got there, saw the show, and slept in a bed that night, and that even allowing for the lamest crowd in our opinion of certainly all the shows we'd seen so far, it was a joy once again to see and hear the Stones. So not perhaps the "best experience", but it'll all come out in the wash so to say. And apart from anything else, human nature being what it is, we only tend to remember the "good bits" in any case.

Inspite of this tale of woe, the reason I say we fared "not too badly" was because keeping in touch by text and phone with other travelling fans we know, we heard of people faring every bit as badly as us, sometimes even worse off: getting bumped off the IBERIA flight from Madrid to Almeria on the morning of the 29th, of the airline losing their luggage, and of more hotel cancellations at 24-36 hours notice. And at the stadium itself, the poor highly stressed individual that was having to deal with our seats having been sold "twice" actually managed to blurt out that "considerable numbers of seats" had suffered the same fate, he described two "entire blocks" in the lower tiers close to the stage on Ron's side that had been "double sold". So we were by no means the only people that didn't end up sitting in the seats we'd bought !!

So in conclusion ... El Ejido was memorable for mostly SHITE reasons, but we'll tell yas one thing .........................................

BITCH and LIVE WITH ME and the MIDNIGHT RAMBLER rocked and rocked and f f f f f f f f f firkin' ROCKED !!

Next stop Rome. Anyone need a hotel ? Yeah, well, here's a hot tip. DO NOT USE www.hotelclub.com ... shower of useless $%^%*&O*O*&^#@ bastards !!

Hi Paulywaul, Beast, BarRoomQueen and Mr Jimmy! Thanks for the update - unbelievable that you made the show at all, which, I have to say absolutely rocked. I am so sad my 16 shows are over but feel so blessed to have seen so many and to meet so many cool people. Rock on for me for the rest of the tour... I was so lucky my seat ended up first seat right in the front row of section E by the extension and level with the mid stage mike!

Hi Sarah,

It was a pleasure to meet you, I remember all the kittens we had over buying those sodding Madrid tickets ... it was a bad case of the "there ain't no seatin' plan blues" !! But we got there in the end !!

The El Ejido show itself rocked musically, no arguments there. It was just that in our case all the peripheral issues that surround any given show kind of "intruded" to a much greater degree than would otherwise have been the case ... I mean how much bad luck do ya have to have to get thrown out of your hotel AND your Rolling Stones seats all in the one day ???????? But also, having seen ALL but two of the Europe 2007 shows so far, we feel we're 100 percent correct in making the observation that the crowd was unquestionably a lot tamer than in previous shows. Having said that though, you were obviously surrounded by a more lively buncha folks than the majority !! Be thankful, because from where we were sitting; it was, at times, not a pretty sight.

Anyway, my next stop is Rome on Friday, Beast is doing all the "B"'s (Brno, Budapest, Bucharest) and St Petersburg, we all reuinite again in early August for Copenhagen, and then we finish up with 3 x O2 in London. You should make an effort to get to those, they oughta be FAB FAB FAB shows - indoor venue and smallest capacity (23,000) etc etc !! And apart from anything else, you get far too much sun over in CA. Come over 'ere and get some rain !!

All the best, great to have met you.

Paul

The place was an utter mess! ... The way they handled de Qs was plain inexistent. I couldn't get a reliable answer on WHICH gates exactly leads you to the GA area until 15 minutes before the opening. There was a huge crowd at the main gate, opposite to the stage, but there were also like another 3 or 4 gates on the other sides, and every answer out of the working staff contradicted the previous one. Not very nice hanging around under that bloody sun.

Once in, I scored a nice spot in the front section, by Keith's side. Must say that during the show the audience response felt actually enthusiastic from where I was. And I don't mean the guys standing next to me, but the whole stadium. Don't know how cold could have felt standing in the back or on the seats, but from where I was it seemed the whole place was rockin.

So the performance was more "energetic" than, let's say, San Sebastian's show the previous Sat. At least it felt so to me. The set list wasn't quite imaginative. Nice selection, but no biggie -heard already all of those songs on previous tours. But there were some *SERIOUS* highlights all over the first part of the performance, "Bitch" and "Midnight Rambler" were real killers that night.

Seems this will be my last show of the tour for me too. Feels kinda sad, but once again feel blessed for having witnessed "that", too.

god I wish I could get to my home town London for the O2 shows but my daughter just got into UCLA and we leave on a mother/daughter bonding week in a luxurious rssort in Mexico on August 26! She has been very tolerant about my Rolling Stones addiction (I even won her and my son on stage tickets for San Francisco last year) and I have to make the choice to put my family first!! Next tour however I will be free as a bird so watch out! Gold rings on you all....

I liked the whole show but specially I remember Live with Me, Midnight Rambler and of course super Keith with You Got The Silver

I think Keith probably drank some superb Gazpacho before the concert and got much more enrgetic and concentrated than Madrid (A Bigger Gazpacho was offering free drinkings of gazpacho to everybody with a Stones Ticket)
