TumblinDice has just become a bore
Posted by: Bob05 ()

First I'm glad to see that the boys seem to be getting back to normal form - the opening at Werchter made one presume the worst.

Still - Tumblin Dice to me has become so uninspiringly boring, so mediocre through and through. Beyond this, it has never been so popular in Europe anyway. Let there be setlists to come and go: Please drop TumblinDice - and replace it by, for example, OutofControl or any other song that deserves to be played by showing us the real Stones: The aura of dramatic rock.

Cheers Bob

I agree with adding Out Of Control but I like Tumbling Dice...

It´s not a popular opinion among fans, but I think the same way.
Will not be disappointed when they play it, but also not that excited....

I´d like to hear more new stuff: put on rain fall down and laugh I nearly died

Aww yeah. Laugh I Nearly Died... One of my Favourites! And (I'll probably get shot down for this) Let Me Down Slow. It was playing really loud in the store when I bought the album and I've loved it ever since! Play the whole album!!! I don't know why it's the ABB tour if they're only gonna do one song off the album. More like a greatest hits + 1 tour. But I love them anyway...

LIND or LMDS would be excellent choices I'd vote for.

She Saw Me Coming would be good, same for Look What the Cat Dragged In and Driving Too Fast!

I am not bored with the Stones, otherwise I wouldn´t jeopardize a lot of existencial things of life to see them on stage.

I am just not that thrilled and excited with that song.

I agree because even though Tumbling Dice is a great song I cannot understand how they can play it at each and every concert for 35 years.

Tumbling Dice - I'd prefer a 1975-76 rough version without back up singers a la Knebworth with those brilliant Ronnie-Keith guitar sounds!

Think of all the people flying in from all around the world. I don't think that happens to a lot of bands. I doubt the Stones would even realize how many fans travel to see multiple gigs. I'd say, to them, it would be like playing to a completely different crowd of people every night, no duplicates. And, if you've never been to gig or haven't been to one since Licks (for example) it might be nice to hear the songs you love/grew up with. That's the vibe I get anyway. Personally, I went to 4 gigs in a week last year, in 4 different cities, 2 different countries. Didn't bother me the sets didn't change much, I was just happy to see the Stones - AGAIN and AGAIN - Not everyone is fortunate enough to do that so give 'em a break. Must be hard trying to find that balance and please EVERYONE!!!!!!!

Such a sad topic. Tumblin' Dice is FAB!! It's popular and everybody simply loves it. It's the perfect sing-along!

TD is a must, but they could play it better, a bluesy way like in 1976!

Great song. Can't hear it often enough.

It's a great song but i can understand it becomes a bit boring for hardcore fans. I still like but could do without of course because i've heard at every show. Fact is that it's always a great song for te atmosphere during a concert. At the Nijmegen show where they were struggling, read my review, i was dying for TD to be plaid because it would do great for the atmosphere at the show. As i'd hoped the crowd loved it and it got the show on his way (after about six songs... )

Cheers,
Wuudy

it was my favorite song before i ever saw them and it blew my mind when i finally did. now, i admit, i am board with it too. HTW too. the rest i can handle. sympathy took on new energy for me last fall, and keith blew me away with satisfaction in the fall of '05.

Many good reasons to keep playing TUmblin Dice. First of all they love to play it, Keith has said that he gets a boner everytime he sees it in the set list!
The audience always react positively to it and they are probably the best judge of that.
I love it myself, and along with Rambler, JJF and brown sugar it's the song I would really hate to miss in a show.

I personally like TD but hope to hear Streets Of Love put in the set again. A great song.

It has a nice opening and closing riff, but after years of listening...not much happens during the closing riff. But that is true about a number of songs played by the band. You can list them. If you get down on TD, cheer yourself up and listen to the Brussels '73 version. It is one of the band's great moments on stage and something DOES happen during the closing riff on THAT one.

I LOVE TD. There are plenty of other songs I'd love to hear, too, but this has the essence of Stones in it, the rhythm works so well

TD is for sure one of my fav songs, I also thought that it is getting a bit or a bore but then when you hear it live it is ususally a showstopper
TD and sympathy are always the highlights of a stones show, so I guess they should and would not drop it
but for sure the voodoo lounge version of it has always been the best
