Good news. I'd rather just have both Beacon shows in full but that won't happen. If they said they were putting in historical footage than I'd expect part of songs and then interviews and clips, which annoys the hell out of me. Rather have full song uninterupted

MCDDTLC--
Do you know if on Sept. 21 the film will open across the country, or
in select theaters or where?

Thanks for the info so far!

flacv, looking good, eh

If the film turns out to be largely documentary in nature, my hope is that uninterupted footage of the shows will be released as a separate package at some future date.

Angee - Didn't get that detail.

Probably looking at "selected" theaters is my guess.

I'm very interested in the Scorsese project but...I'm also looking
forward to a DEFINITIVE documentary which might not come until the Stones
hang it up for good.

Re: Scorsese's SHINE A LIGHT....It should be very interesting to see how
this major release mixes new & old etc....... I'd be surprised if it's
merely Beacon concert footage with a few historical tidbits thrown in.

His Dylan project was excellent.........my hopes are high.

IORR............but I like it!

(Thanks, MLC.)
I'm betting that a backstage interview with Bonnie Raitt will be included plus perhaps her performance with Mick from...was that LA show?
Didn't happen in Vegas where she opened. Wait, that performance is on the
DVD, I think.

Scorcese's Concert Movie 'Shine A Light' Opening In The US

Rolling Stones fans no doubt will remember the following two dates: October 29 and November 1, 2006. For those with hazy memories, it was on these two nights that The Rolling Stones performed at New York's legendary Beacon Theatre for two of the smallest audiences of their A Bigger Bang tour. During the historic two night stand, Academy Award®-winning filmmaker Martin Scorsese captured every moment, both onstage and off, for his new concert film, "Shine A Light".

On September 21st, another date you'll be sure to remember, Paramount Classics, in association with Concert Productions International and Shangri-La Entertainment, will release nationwide "Shine A Light," a look at The Rolling Stones, the band that defined the very idea of what a rock & roll band is, live through the eyes of Martin Scorsese.

Well nothing can match The Last Waltz so I doubt that SHine a light will be better but I sure have my hopes up.I think it will be the best stones concert movie.

why would you want old footage? Im glad there isn't. Let's see how great the boys are now.

smile: i'd love old footage, if it includes stuff we haven't seen before -
but i'd also love a straightforward concert film from the Beacon shows.
one film about the history plus one of the Beacon shows would be perfect;
one film that's half history and half concert (sort of like Hail Hail Rock & Roll) could be great too.
aw hell, it'll be great in any case - i'm just hoping the concert footage isn't chopped up too much.

Can somebody explain to me what is so great about The Last Waltz? I watched it a couple of months ago, and it bored me to death. The interviews and the way it's filmed are boring, and their music is so boring to... Robbie Robertson has a very arrogant head in those interviews...

If you don't like the music, nor are interested in The Band's career...I guess it's not a good movie.
I think it's fantastic BTW

The Band is one of those rare bands that could match The Rolling Stones if not outdo them in certain ways.Just listen to their first two albums. They are otherworldly

Please tell me this is some kind of joke.

Reshoots being held for a Rolling Stones concert movie in New York - meanwhile, the Stones themselves will be on tour in Europe.

You couldnt make this sh*t up.

I live next to the Beacon Theater and walking home from work today I saw flyers posted everywhere saying no parking. So I walked up to see what they were filming and it said Shine A Light. I was very surprised to see that! They have the area blocked off for all of Friday.
