I just hope that they will use the old one!

Which old one ?.

Don't think we'll see the huge one with room for an audience above the stage... It's complicated to build, takes a lot of time, it's expensive to move it around and the Rio stage is probably just as spectacular. It's all about the lights.

that would be a shame for me, haven't been on any of the shows last year

I dont see why they dont use the stage from last year.

The tickets are not any cheaper, they make the same money so dont see why the cost of moving it would be a problem.

Ronnie did say IOW some of the audience would be on stage.

They owe this stage to Spain and it would be cruel to deprive them.

I dont think they can have it in London, as indoors and smaller venu.

Well, they're billing the ABB-shows on ABB-posters with the ABB-stage: It would be rather cheap to take another one on tour, especially the Rio-thing, which looked more like a wardrobe/cloakroom structure (you know what I mean, the thing you hang your coat on, but then bigger...) than like a stage...

They are using a much bigger version of the Tongue stage that was used at the superbowl last year. Its going to be awesome.

Virgil I wish what you say is true , but looking at the seating plans in most venues I very much doubt it.

explain please...we know that there will be only one

There will be 3 Stages.

They cannot possibly do all these shows with one stage.

Who cares about the stage?
I could care less if the stones were
playing on grass
or dirt.

Just being there, seeing the stones live
is enough for me.

I thought Virgil was inferring it was a similar layout to the Superbowl one, placing them in the round - which would be unlikely in the extreme

They should use the old set from the Merv Griffin show.

They are using the same stage as last year but with no onstage seating. My friend on the crew told me

As long as they play, it's fine. But the type of show the Stones perform nowadays DOES have a certain element of show; the ABB-stage contributes undeniable to this show. I don't say a concert misses something without this stage, musically, but I do say the stage adds something to the overall experience.

Well at least put 'em on a table, otherwise only the front row will see them.
They're not that tall.

Stage talk aside, are there any news on a European concert being shown on TV? I mean apart from the stuff we'll most likely get from Isle Of Wight?

My sister is keeping an eye on the werchter festival spot but no stage is set up yet. Although there have been trucks arriving the last few days.

Last week they were setting up a stage at stage & co (right next to the wechter festival spot) but it was the George Michael one :/

Veronica, a dutch radio-station is the sponsor of the Nijmegen-show... I hope they're going to broadcast at least parts of the show... But I doubt it: something like that would in my eyes only make sense in case of a sell-out. If I were the Stones, I'd say: are you interested in our music? Buy a ticket...

Do you really think they will spent money on changing the stage? I would be satisfied if they will rehearse their stuff...

Whatever the stage is like, if it's the Rio-stage or the ABB-stage....they'll have to start build it up at the latest from following monday on. It took 7 days to build it up last year.

Seven is a bit overestimated, wasn't is something like 5 days to build it, three to take it down? 8 days in total? Or 5 in total? 3 to build, two to repack?

I know it has been published somewhere, there has been a special in a magazine/paper last year during the Euro-leg, about the stage etcetera. We've had a thread here too, with a lot of pictures... Going to search for it.

1. inside rumours say they will use the on stage stage
2. on some of the maps from promoters it clearly shows the on stage show (italy and isreal)
3. i don't think they have three 'rio' stages so it's not practical

conclusion: the great on stage stage it will be
