I recommend getting a HI-WATT Custom 50W (also known as "Bulldog"). Not too expensive if you're lucky.

I've got a Fender Hotrod Deville 2x12 valve combo. Fantastic amp. I also have a Fender Super 60 1x12 valve combo. It's also a great amp but it's dirty channel I find a bit "fizzy". The clean channel on it is awesome though.

Worth having? a '57 Fender Twin, a '59 Fender bassman, a '64 Vox AC30 with topboost, a '65 Fender Deluxe Reverb, a '66 Fender Super Reverb, a '66 Marshall Bluesbreaker, a '67 Vox Conqueror with matching cab, a '67 Marshall Plexi, an Ampeg SVT or V2/V4 from 1970 until 1974, A Dumble from any year, a '77 to '82 Boogie Mark I or IIB/C+ with reverb and EQ, A Victoria Double Deluxe, A Matchless Lightning...

I use a Fender Hot Rod Deluxe for live stuff. Affordable, loud and nice tones (too loud to use at home - got a smaller amp for that). You can pay a lot more, but this one has suited me for the last four or five years. Still get tempted(and often give in) by new guitars, but quite happy with the amp.

Something for home and that doesn't cost over 1000 euros?

What amp do you have now? If your not satisfied and you already have a vintage twin then the advice would be different to if your only currently going through a laney!

For home use, I would highly recommend a low wattage (less than 15W) tube amp so that you get the chance to turn it up a bit and get some natural distortion from the valves.

My personal favorite for home use would be the Gibson Goldtone low wattage models.

They do a GA5 Les Paul amp but I've not heard it so can't advise. I had the older version of the 15W amp and it was plenty loud enough for small gigs (pubs) with another guitarist, drummer, bass etc.

GA-5 has good reputation for house use even though price is about 400 euros.

You can also use them with solid state amps.
