I know it's perfectly safe. Been to Israel more times than I've had hot dinners since I was 9 years old, know the place pretty well. You've got more chance these days of getting shot/stabbed/nuked/bombed/having an aeroplane directed through your front window/whatever in UK than out there ... sad to say.

Anyone for skinny dippin' in the Dead Sea ? The only snag is, ya can't DIP, ya keep comin' up !!

But by that logic the best show would be the last show they ever do right? Don't you wanna see that? I know I do....

Last show I would attend, security-wise, would be Copenhagen. My 50c.

MAybe the worst problem might be the heat down there in September.

Not many mnre than Mr D himself stand such heat...

For historical reasons - yes. However, KNOWING it would be the last show? I'm not sure I'd get much pleasure from being at such an occasion. Its not really something to look forward to.

Realising it was the last one in hindsight is more palatable.

Leave it ... this is a perfectly valid thread. Start that kind of stuff and BV will shut it down in an instant. Don't let him do that please !

The Rolling Stones are not a political band. They have been performing in China, Norway, Japan, USA, France, Australia and so on, even if you might find lots of people who want to boycot these countries because of some political reasons. There are too many to be mentioned. The Stones might perform in Cuba. They might perform in North Korea. Please do not start any wars here. I will not close this thread, but I will close those users who do not respect the rules on IORR, saying you should NOT start political discussions here on IORR.

Mr. Ringo,
I won't get into politics. just one thing:
the poeple in Israel (and the whole area) get punished by their stupid leaders every day. we don't need to get punished by the Rolling Stones as well.

And with a bit of luck ... you won't be. Boy I hope they manage to cut a deal and the show happens, I really do.

I've been hearing this every tour since 1981.
I'll believe it when I see it happen.

>>It would be a big surprise if they extended the tour as far as that with so many shows at the minute being slow sellers and no gossip of any other gigs after August 26.<<
which shows are slow selling?

Yes I'm confused with what strikes me as very conflicting info about how these Spanish shows are supposedly selling. On the one hand someone in Spain posted very enthusiastically that the Spanish shows had sold 32,000 odd tickets in some very short period of time, 24 hours I think it was. And then a while later the same person posted that sales in Spain were very slow and there were I think 70,000 unsold tickets still available ?

Whatever ? Personally I don't care whether they sell fast or slow, lots or not so many - but I just couldn't help noticing the discrepancy in the information that was posted ?

You're in the HOLY land ! Find a church/mosque/synagogue (you've got about 50,000 to choose from) and PRAY ... and it will happen !! Alternatively, if that doesn't work, pay Michael Cohl a very big cheque ... and then it will DEFINITELY happen !

Well that was a real piece of crap, sorry Ringo, but I guess you really havent got a clue when it comes to Israel, the arab/moslim world, the UN, the conflicts around the world or what countries one should boycott.

I THINK ... it might have to be just a tiny little bit more than $10, but hey ... it's worth a try. I'll throw in another $10.

I was hoping that London 26th was going to be the last concert of the Biggest Bang Tour. I still do. But $$$ really matters to the stones. This record will for sure stand at least 3 years till U2 (or Mecca) go on tour with Cohl

I have said this a thousand times. The Stones don't do each and every show for the money only. The cost of doing shows in Tel Aviv, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Moscow and so is not profitable. If they want more money then can do 20 shows in Las Vegas, LA or MSG. They want to meet neew people, new markets, different cultures, new places. Also, such a waste to do a club show if they were in it for the money. What was the purpose of Cirkus Krone or Vredenburg? Money wise? Absolutely nothing. I hope they can make it to Israel. And Dubai. And Korea. And so on. It is pretty selfish to expect the Stones to end their tour in London... They will never stop...

I agree, it was being selfish :-)
You hope they can make it to Israel? Why not? Why not Afrika, Shangai, South America again, Australia. They only have to be there and play.

And BV one day the Stones will stop just like all of us...

Just cuz Jagger has commitments in Sept and beyond, how do you know those cant be postponed or cancelled, worked on incrementally (perhaps during tour breaks) allowing the tour to continue?

What do you think at this point (Israel, US, etc.) ?
