from that NME interview. i've NEVER heard Keef mention Motorhead before ... have you ?

"My favourite new band is...

I ain't got any, they're all a load of crap. Everyone's a load of crap. They're all trying to be somebody else and they ain't being themselves. The Libertines, Arctic Monkeys, Bloc Party? Load of crap, load a crap. Posers, rubbish. There ain't nothing out there that's worth shit. I listen to the real shit, I don't listen to bullshit. I listen to my shit, baby, Motörhead, reggae, Moroccan music. All kinds of shit."

I don't understand why he would like em, they have no roll in their music, just rock rock rock!? :/

Is Keith not contradicting himself?

In one breath he slates bands, for being 'rock' but not having the 'roll',
and in the next breath expressing his liking for Motorhead?

Motorhead and Stones are two bands famous for asskicking tours and gigs. They both love to stand on the stage and give everything. That is what rock'n'roll is all about. I guess Keith respect any honest asskicking rock'n'roll band live.

Motohead / Rolling Stones Connections:

Ace of Spades / Tumbling Dice

Doctor Rock / Dear Doctor

Shine / Shine A Light

Fire Fire / Play With Fire

Motorhead song: Motorhead / Rolling Stones song: Like A Rolling Stone

Heart of Stone / Heart of Stone

Lemmy has something odd on his face / Keith often has something weird in his hair

The connections are endless. This may be something like the Wizard of Oz / Dark side of the Moon thing.

I agree with everything keef said except about the arctic monkeys, they are actually good live. Reminded me of the stones in the 60's somehow.

Currently, there's only two guys walking around being able to claim the title of "Mr. Rock 'n' Roll": Keith and Lemmy. They'll have to share the title though, which they gladly will. I understand Keith mentioning and liking Motorhead: Motorhead is gutbucket-R&R too, and that's what their bands have in common. One sticks a bit closer to the original and roots (whatever they may be), the other stretches it to its loudest and most powerful perimeters. My verdict in both cases: Perfect!

"Mr. Rock 'n Roll"...yes maybe, Lemmy is a true rocker, and have lived the hard way, I've got big respect for him. But, we were discussing the "roll" part of Motorheads music, and I can't find that "roll". That's no critisicm.
Guzza, how are things going at Socks Off.org ?

well, Motorhead and AC\DC aren't rock'n'roll band to me..It's hard rock, heavy metal for Motorhead..The Stones, The Who, The Faces, those are r'n'r bands!

Don't you think Keith tried to imitate Lemmy with the moustache?

i think you need to listen harder! if AC/DC aren't 100% rock n roll, i don't know who is (and yes, that includes the Stones!)

the DC never did any shitty ballads or cod @#$%&/reggae workouts. it was always just ROCK N ROLL

I consider AC/DC to be hard-hitting Rock 'n Roll, there's a good roll, at full speed

I just think that AC/DC genre is hard-rock, it's no offense man! i like a lot of their stuff..but still think that their guitar riffing, their solos, the drumming style, the period, their stage presence, the backing vocals, and especially the way the singers sing, are typical hard-rock. And also a big ispiration for the heavy metal that came later. If you haven't ever notice any of these things i think that maybe it's you that need to listen harder...
