I'm betting the stones will do a tribute (cover) song to either James Brown or the Ronnettes on the next tour. Mabye "it's a mannnnn's world"? any thoughts?
Staying Alive, YMCA: The Rolling Stones disco project- play that funky music, white boy!!
but realistically folks, It's a Man's World would be great. Sensitive soul vocals and a bit of"swagger". Jagger and Lisa trading vocals. Squeeze it in after Tumblin' Dice.
Now that you mention it, the rehearsals could feature some interesting cover possibilities -- James Brown, why not? Yeah, I could see that. For Billy Preston -- what about "Nothing from Nothing"? Billy did that in his miniset on the 75 tour, didn't he? I could envision Mick doing that one.
I know that they did a couple of their own songs that referenced the city in which they were playing in NA last summer/fall (and a verse from Wichita Lineman), but have they done tribute songs for artists who have passed on during previous tours?
Is there a precedent for them to choose songs to do on tour for such a reason?
why dont the stones tribute original stones songs never done before, how about that, since there are about 300 they havent done, i mean nothing personal to james brown but cmon man

yeah but for every one cover song that means one less stones song
yeah but I think he still has got a few years to go.... he's very tough physically! and he has been living very healthy all of his life! (no alcohol drugs... only smoking... but not a chain-smoker).
