'Shakin' All Over'- Mick Green (The Pirates) and Mark Lamarr, on vocals

Hogg did the Who's I Can't Explain
Kenney Jones's band did the Faces' Stay With Me as well as Hot Legs
Plenty of Chuck Berry from everyone (Roll Over Beethoven, Let It Rock, Sweet Little Rock'n'Roller)

Great evening. My ears haven't got over it yet, and my feet certainly haven't. Ouch. But it was worth it.

what Ronnie & the Artwoods played was:
I Take What I Want, Kansas City, Got My Mojo Workin, Hoochie Coochie Man and High Heeled Sneakers -
Ronnie was in ~*beautiful*~ form and it was a great great great night.

ps: Ronnie didn't do any singing, and he wasn't on stage for the finale (Midnight Special).
pps: the Bluescasters were outstanding too - especially their rendition of Not Fade Away. that was dirty! :E
(their whole set was Roll Over Beethoven. Not Fade Away, Brown Sugar and a number
i don't know the title of - the refrain was something like "get your hair cut and get a real job")

i did notice 1-2 people in the audience,
who appeared to be taping The Artwoods' set, so maybe/hopefully, we'll have something to listen back to, before too long.

Thanks for the photos Adrian and Pualywaul! That's one of the great things about this forum, and the internet....to get info exactly when it happens. Some years ago, we'd have to wait 5 months for the next Stones fanzine.

There was a video camera set up behind us for the later part of the evening so there may be some sort of DVD eventually - also I suspect the Eel Pie might bring out a recording sometime.

Get A Haircut... is the Bluescasters' signature tune that they always finish with.

if rs.com get wind of it, they'll bring out a "hot" special edition at ten times the price with a special souvenir "free gift" consisting of some of the fallen plaster that came off the ceiling...

Hopefully hopefully hopefully this will have been filmed and recorded, it was extraordinary. 5 solid hours of rock n' roll music, during which time these musicians covered Lonnie Donegan, Muddy Waters, Chuck Berry, the Rolling Stones, The Who, the Kinks, Led Zeppelin, the Faces, Mott the Hoople, Cream ... and so it went on. And towards the end, we were blessed with the presence of the younger brother, the great Ronald himself. Quite frankly it was unbelievable ! I think most of us that were there last night are still stunned ! Congratulations to the Eel Pie Club for staging such a fantastic event that went off in great style. Superb venue, superb musicianship, a five hour show, a night that did the late great Art Wood proud ... very very proud. It was a privilege to have been there.

i'm hoping the 2 major 'plaster-gate' incidents appear online/youtube, in the near future... there were loads of mini-cams and camera phones in the audience
- it was classic stuff

You put it very well Paul, it really was a privelege to be there. He must have been a great guy to inspire so many people. A party like that is a wonderful way to celebrate his life.

I thought his widow and Ronnie both did very well. It's not long since his death and it must have been hard for them, emotionally.

Plaster-gate was funny, as no one got hit. Thank goodness Ronnie wasn't standing under it, it would have been the coconut tree/shrub incident all over again, but with eyewitnesses! Hogg did well to keep going without missing a beat, without the years of experience of life on the road that the other bands had.

What an evening, I'll remember it for a long, long time. God bless Art, I wish I'd known him

apart from a small vip-area to the side of the bar, most of the acts/musicians mingled during the night , with the crowds. (as is, the Eel Pie way).
Indeed, an 'autograph page' was provided in the souvenir programme,
and it was fantastic to chat and meet lots of famous faces.

Meeting the great drummer, Mickey Waller was quite a memorable experience.

I asked him poitely, if he would mind signing my programme, at which point he apologised profusely for (and i quote) 'being very pissed', took my pen, asked me my name, and started to write a lovely message, which he signed and dated, in a very druken scrawl.... at which point he thanked me and shuffled off, back to the bar.
top man!

Mickey Waller was AMAZING. Looked the the young Mr Grace from Are You Being Served, had two fleece jackets on when drumming, even though the Hall was very warm. But wow he can play! His Not Fade Away was one of the real highlights for me

Worth noting that on neither occasion did the drummers miss a beat. It reminded me of the band on the Titanic.......and still they played on!

That's Ali Mackenzie, the Artwoods' vocalist.

As everyone said.It was a privilidge to have been there and all the great music that was played has all been mentioned.I thought that Peter French who I know is a regular eelpie performer had a terrific band with a realy good young guitarist. They played a great set as did all involved in this great evening of music for such a well respected and loved guy. There must have been a lot of work gone into it by the eelpie club and they get everyones congratulations I am sure.

Well the joint was rocking
Going round and round
Reeling and a-rocking
What a crazy sound
And they never stopped rocking
When the ceiling fell down!

it was very enjoyable gig and Artwoods were for sure the best of the evening. With Ronnie Wood looking beautiful, young and healthy and focused on playing, , taking great solo, adding licks with feeling & being in charge of what's going on on stage. He also for sure enjoyed himself on stage. He had angelic aura all around him. I can't help it - I love him dearly.

Something I won't forget till the end of my life even if it was "only" 4 tunes.
Thank you Ronnie! And thank you all artists from this evening. Great night it was!

bless you Art...

I thought he was onstage for about 40 minutes? Would 4 songs have lasted that lomg? Didnt he play on Midnight Special, which Adrian said was the finale?

~*YEAH BABY!*~ thanks for saying that so well, and for the great photos.

yeah that was the finale, but Ronnie wasn't on stage for it.
i don't know how long exactly he was on - around 25 minutes maybe? i wasn't watching the clock.

>> seems like [the Bluescasters] did George Thorogood & The Destroyers' "Haircut" <<

could be! sounds like Green Lady (who posted earlier) knows the number ...
