It has very sad memories for me too - used to sing along to it with
a childhood friend who died last year.

I'll see you in my dreams.

There is a beautiful version of this performed live by Joe Brown at the end of the 'concert for george'. Just a really sad song that makes you think about how truly dreadful it is / must be to lose a really close loved one / soul mate / partner.

I hear this question from Deadheads a lot...honestly, no song ever made me cry, although I probably cry every time I hear some warhorse that's been played a hundred times at every show. LOL

Urban Steel: "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face" is a tear jerker for sure.

"Seasons In The Sun" by Terry Jacks brings back childhood memories.

But,

For real passion you must look to Opera:

"Intermezzo Sinfonico" from Cavalleria Rusticana by Pietro Mascagni.

You may recognize it as it was played at the end of The Godfather Part 3. A very reflective heart wrenching piece. No words.

Thats an itneresting choice. That song doesnt make me cry, but The Four Flicks version does give me goosebumps. After the break in the song when mick sings "Im on the run I hear the hounds/my luck is up my chips are down". Gets me every time.

as for crying songs, IF did it would be listening to

"A change is gunna Come" either the Sam Cooke or Otis Redding version.

Me too. It's chilling how Mick can screw up the singing AND lyrics so much in one song.

No, entire verses were messed up, plus his modern grunting instead of his 70's snarl/singing is sorely missed on tis track - although it's not as bad as Crazy Mama from 1997.

Beautiful Boy by John Lennon - For obvious reasons.

Helpless by Neil Young at The Last Waltz - Don't know why exactly, but it gets to me.

Somewhere Over The Rainbow by Judy Garland - Her and Janis dig so deep it's scary.

In My Room by Brian Wilson - A fragile soul looking for peace. Don't we all?

With God On Our Side by Bob Dylan - So sad because it's so horrifyingly true.

Pride by U2 - I know it's supposed to be optimistic, but it sounds so desperate. Love, justice, equality and death.

What song does Neil Diamond sing on the Last Waltz?

It was on this version that most people I know who saw it declared that Neil was really "cool".
