That song has always been so embarassing -- would be a great Gore-for-President-overly-long-anthem.
Patti must've been creamin' to have Keith so close, and doing her song! I'm so glad he didn't sing those dopey lyrics. His playing made it endurable. Too bad we can't have an instrumental version, huh?
Wow, this was pure rock 'n roll to me. Everybody having a very good time and Keith a shining black pearl delivering his Berryesk biting riffs like only he can. I loved every second of it.
Man, what a terrible singing going on there. Keith was great, constant Berry like licks.
The singers must have had a terrible monitor sound and the fat guy had so much reverb on his guitar that I can still hear it minutes after I've turned off the song haha.
Keith looked totally bored having to play a such a non-musical John Lennon rip off piece. All he could do was throw in some Chuck Berry licks which didn't fit in a song with no rythm. Soon he just quit and talked to Ronnie while the others suffered through Patti Smith untill it was mercifully over. The worst HOF jam ever and they won't be getting any better in coming years as we enter the MTV group period.
keithfan64, not to get negative but keith has done the chuck berry riffing the last 40 years and at times it was out of key. He kept it simple to get the sound he wanted the sound of the stones. This could be observed as boring from ones perspective.
Keith is not a technical player and with open tunings he was able to play similiar slide patterns and riffs from open tuning to open tunings once he found the small open chords etc. Inverted riffs along the way and open tunings kept him fresh as a player but that can take you only so far as a player.
I have always preferred keith on acoustic guitar where i think he was more challanged as a player where he played more in standard tunings.
keith is my fav all around player with his songwriting, rhythm, and riffing.

why so negative. I thought Keith was awesome. "Chuck Berry licks" are what he cut his teeth on. Its amazing to watch him peel them off today. Agree that overall it was ropy, but what the hell - its a live jam. Its Rock n Roll
Hey! I wasn't criticizing Keith at all. I was saying he did the best he could under the cercumstancis of having to play a awful piece of Patti Smith crap! Read it again. I felt sorry for him and Ronnie having to try to find something musical in Smith's garbage.
