Who's in the line-up these days?

Paul Stanley,Gene Simmons,Peter Criss and Tommy thayer.Tommy Thayer certainly revitalsed the guys.

Are you sure Peter is still with them? I thought Eric Singer was drumming with KISS, as well as Alice Cooper's band?

I never really saw them as anything but a parody on several glam rock bands... Just have a feeling that they'll be remembered for their make-up, costumes and the women they... Well, you know!

The Line-up Gene Simmons, Paul Stanley, Tommy Thayer and Peter Criss did only exist during 2003. Since 2004 it has been Eric Singer behind the drums, who I think is the real "revitalizer" for the band.
I still hope for Ace to come back, but that's not going to happen. But one can always dream.

Why did they sack Peter and Ace after the comeback? For the same reasons as before?

I'd be glad to see them one more time live.
Europe is a continent they tend to forget.

Their albums are pretty lame (except a few ones like Destroyer, RnR Circus and Revenge) but they are really worth being seen live.

Take away their makeup and you have a second rate hair metal band. Sorry to say I can't agree with your assesment stargroover.

There are hair metal bands who are good enough to be 'second rate' ?

KISS was NOT a hair metal band in the seventies. They made some very good songs. But as the 80s were kicking in, a lot of bands adapted the style and attitude at the time. That's why bands like KISS get IMO undeserved labels like this.

Listen to their first album and Dressed To Kill. That's pure bluesy rock'n'roll.

I totally agree.
But don't forget the double live-album "ALIVE" from 1975. That album really shows that they once were a real rock'n roll band.
Kiss was never a hair-metal band. If you listen to some of their 20-30-something studioalbums you'll realize that there are some good songs.

I like quite a bit of KISS' stuff. "Mr. Speed" has a Stonesy vibe to it.

I love Kiss and I'm vey happy they are going to be touring again, I just wish it was behind a new album even if its with this line up (wich I like). They should put a new album out.

Kiss never claimed they were reinventing the wheel. Its just good time stuff. If you slap on Double Platinum at a party everyone will have a great time and you may even get laid. It's shallow, stupid and wonderful! Oh, and Ace frehley was truly brilliant on those early albums. Thats why Stanley and Simmons resent him so much. He was a total original. He is one of those guitarists I can pick out immediately from his style. I also hate it when they slag Peter Criss. He was the "rat-a-tat" guy that made the sound swing. Now they just want a heavy metal drum sound...Had to get that off my chest!

As far as I know Ace was kicked out of the band after drugs and alcohol rendered him rather useless.According to Gene in his autobiography Ace was turning up late and loaded.
Peter Criss seems to prefer Retirement,with an occasional appearance now and then.
Kiss was the first live gig I saw back in 1980 and they pretty much blew me away.Kiss Alive 2 still takes some beating.

I only recently got back into them when my son stumbled across some old Kiss plastic figures.Stuck a few CD's on and got reaquainted.Bought the Symphony dvd gig and was somewhat sceptical,but it totally blew me away.
