Your on the money Hotstuff, like all you mention plus a heap of others, too many to mention from the fifties, but for a stones song gimme shelter is really good.
No, but a very close second to Jumping Jack Flash. Too bad Keith seems to have forgotten how to play it and Mick how to sing it. It was absolutely the highlight of every show I saw in 1998, but the versions I heard during this last tour made me wish they would retire it (or rehearse it better, as the case may be).
Gimme Shelter is the best song period! I don't know how many times I've listened to it (hundreds/thousands?), but every time I hear it I still get chills. To the opening chords to the very end this song cooks.

Yes! Brown Sugar! It is & always will be my favorite. Gimmie Shelter is a great song, just not the greatest. Sorry JMosicia. Brown Sugar covers it all.
It's topics (sex, rocking music & a middle age crisis) the classic beat, great intro, sax solo, lots of guitar, & crowd participation makes it my choice of best R&R song ever! .........I said yeah, yeah, yeah Woo!
