I can't believe they didn't release Under the Radar (or include it on the record) I think it is one the best songs of the post 1981 era, actually a song that, imo, ranks up with all of their recognized great tunes.
But, yeah Rockman, a Rough Justice/Back of My Hand would have made for one kicking single. Of course, since radio where I live SUCKS who knows if anyone here would have noticed.
Oh, that is a little rough, even for you, Tod, one of the songs, I will refrain from comment, but RJ has got some nice sounding guitars and I think Ronnie's slide sounds cool.
I do think that Ronnie is best utilized on slide, steel...when they exploit his versatility---sure worked out well on Some Girls, Emotional Rescue and all those killer outtakes from that era.
Rough Justice is a much better song than You Got Me Rocking Now. The latter gets boring after a few listens, which is right about when the former becomes really interesting.
In the very early 90s keith said he'd only ever written 2 songs, I think he'd say 3 now, there aren't many new stones songs that aren't a nod to You Got Me Rocking!
I remember a review describing the Rough Justice guitar as "like an aroused python on an oil slick" - but whoever wrote it thought the guitarist in question was Keith.

that's the point, GS. These "by the numbers" slide workouts by Ronnie are so pedestrian and basic (not to mention virtual clones of one another) that they belie Ronnie's sliding talents. Aside from his killer work on '81-era LIB, I've yet to hear him really bust out a slide solo that rivals his best work with the Faces. I am waiting...ting...ting.....

I just listened to Rough Justice last night after a full month of not hearing it (i didn't have the cd with me) and it was so great to hear it. Lyrically, it's ok. But musically...catchy as hell and just damn fun. Best rocker since "Start Me Up."..IMHO.
Generally speaking, Woody's slide playing tends to be repetitve. He grabs a phrase and plays it over and over, like he's stuck on it. He has neither the imagination nor the skill to expand it. If he talked the way he plays guitar he would say a few words, then either stop or start stuttering. And what he says is not interesting. He is a guitar player of no significance. His guitar playing is like his art. It's replicative and souless. But he has more technique skills with his art.

Unfortunately, this describes a lot of what Woody does today. However, in the 70's he was fantastic.
The same argument can be made for Keith, too. I'm sorry, I've heard to many botched songs on this tour - they need to re0think this whole thing if they want to still be taken serioulsy as musicians. As of now, their back-up people carry the songs.
