Time for Me to Fly - REO Speedwagon

Go ahead tell me they suck. All the earlier REO bashing made me nostalgic.

I'm sorry charmer....it's all about opinion and perception.....if you like them, then that's what counts......and I do like that "Riding The Storm Out" song.

It's cool man. I'm being somewhat of a smart ass as usual. But in my twenties when I was first digging rock & roll. Reo was HUGE (along with styx and foriegner). So I always had a soft spot in the normally cold hard ticker for da boyz. Although in the spirit of full disclosure,I did go see them last year at a county fair.lol........And they sucked. They don't have Gary Richrath on guitar anymore and it's the Kevin Cronin show. Dissapointing.

The Police Live In New York (September 1979). Fantastic Show.

Also, the rather forgotten "Done With Mirrors" (1985) by Aerosmith has been spinned a lot recently. There is something dark and sad by the mood of this album - the last album before "Permanent Vacation", and the first album after Aerosmith got their original guitar players back in the line up.

Listening to two things: this new EP from the UK by a band called The Feeling. A song called "All you need to do" which I like.
Then I am also listening to an 80's act called David & David. I think those guys are still around; they are like top "corporate" writers. But good. Song is "Welcome to the Boomtown". ("...now he smokes much too much got a permanent ha-iy-ack...")

'Winter' from GHS. The combination of Taylor's solo and those strings on the second half of that song may well be the most searingly beautiful pieces of music that have ever appeared on any Stones song.

Bob Dylan Theme Time Radio Hour - "musical instruments"

Re: I am right now listening to...

I agree w/ you Gazza about "Winter" but they they give that title a run for the $ in the build-up and subsequent outro of "Moonlight Mile". As much as I hate silly words like 'majestic' it fits the music there.
Also in a different way I always found the ending of "Rocks Off" with the horn chart one of the most beautiful pieces of music they ever did. There is something so incredibly uplifting about the whole piece after the psychedelic bridge. My absolute favorite part is at 3:38 whyen Jagger finally cuts the vocal line short. When he does not do the long stretched out note of "dreeeeaming" but instead lets Nicky's piano boogie on instead.
This makes me think of a new thread.

Yep..'Moonlight Mile' is in my top 5 Stones songs for sure. That outro is quite something.

I think we had a thread on best 'moments' of any Stones song here before, or maybe it was on Rocks Off. Cant recall. Anyway, if thats your idea for a new thread, run with it
