Ya ya's is a good live album, but compared to Love You Live or Still Life, it just sounds uninspired! Just compare JJ Flash yaya's with JJ Flash love you live! What a difference. I also think Mick Taylor ruined JJ Flash with toooooo much of boring repeating blues licks. But after all that's my opinion of course!
Ya Ya is of course a masterpiece. But somehow, I am very fond of Still Life. There is an energy in that one, and a great laidback feeling as well; they are in fun mode. Keith's licks during Under My Thumb are soooo cool; Jagger is perfect on Twenty Flight Rock; Imagination, with the sax and the wolf-like background vocals is fabulous; Start me up goes full speed, unbuttoned, and Satisfaction alike - listening to it, I can feel the warm sunset of a 1981 American summer night.
Ya Yas is too short, and it's also too much overdubbed. Another thing is the fact that it contains two Berry songs, but no Satisfaction, or Gimme Shelter for that matter! I'd go for the soundtrack of Ladies And Gentlemen...
if i'd say their best, no doubt: get yer ya-ya's out! maybe the best live album ever, excuse mr rocknroll but how can you say "unispired"! The Stones in 69 were at thei highest point in the matter of ispiration! anyway if i'd say my fav, is love you live, cuz i simply adore the el mocambo side!
Well, I'm not really into Live albums, and therefore I only got one: Flashpoint. Factory Girl is superb on that one. Plus, it's the only place to find Highwire and Sex Drive so far.
Ya-Ya's or Exile tops my list of the best (official) rock album of all time. But Ya-Ya's isn't easy to "understand" - it can sound "greyish", it took me many years before I really got into it. But it's a wonderful album, rock at its best.
Get your Ya Ya's by far. I bought this record when it first came out and played it and played it and played it, eventually I wore it out and had to replace it. I now have both copies of the record and a cd version. Brill
Well, this is my CURRENT fave live album -- that could change next week LOL.
However, it just seems neat to start out this notional show with Keith & Ron playing acoustic guitars on this particular version of SFM, and then switching to electrics for "Rocks Off".
The rockin' acoustics remind me of some band from the 80s that used this as their shtick -- the Alarm, that's it. They sounded good on record.
As for Ya-Ya's -- I've heard that album so many times over the last 30+ years that I'm burnt out on it. I'm not kidding. I never listen to it anymore. After being spoiled on full-length boots from later tours, Ya-Ya's seems too perfunctory. The edits and overdubs don't help matters. This opinion is anathema to some of you, but that's the way I feel.

Oficially release Ya-Ya's, although we all know that is wasn't totally live, since they did a lot of overdubs in the studio to it. Now if you want to listen to their best live album HANDSOME GIRLS, IMHO is the greatest.
Why Ya-Ya's isn't my favourite Stones Official Live Album...
The intro annoys me.
Ya-Ya's has the best Jumpin Jack Flash and Honky Tonk Woman (even though the latter's voclas are all totally re-done in the studio. But two identical Berry numbers? Er, no thanks. And all that over-dubbing? Why?
Street Fighting Man, Love in Vain and Ramber were all destroyed by the 72/73 versions found on boots.
Sympathy is much better on Love You Live.
I don't feel that Stary Cat Blues on it does the studio version justice.
I think I burned myself out of hearing it anymore as a teen.
