Never have seen this in its entirety..thanks for posting it! Though this may have not been a "concert' per say..I think it's quite obvious that they were a very tight band..musically, that is...

This is great stuff -- I saved them and renamed them as flv files. Now, I can convert them to mpeg and watch the whole thing in sequence.

Their songs are not hard to play live. Every concert would have sounded the same because there is no room for improvisation. Everything is played and sung by a fixed pattern. Perhaps John eventuelly could have handled the lead part in Get Back.

Yeah, this was always an understandable but very strange thing to me:
They weren´t "touring Revolver" though it came out. Sure it had a lot to do with unabilities of reproducing sounds but think about Taxman,She Said, Bird, could they have worked.
The fact that the Beatles played exactly ONE NUMBER of their last 2 great abums (NOWHERE MAN) shows me they weren´t really thinking about a good set anymore. They were really fed up with it all. Unfortunately.

Blaming the sound systems is just an excuse I think. It was the same for everybody.

They did play Paperback Writer, which is obviously from the Revolver period.

The shitty sound systems was only ONE of the many reasons given for stopping touring.

I know they played Paperback Writer, but the newest 2 songs, Writer and Nowhere Man are the shittiest numbers in their weak live shows from 1966, Budokan , Hamburg , Munich I know.

Sad but true: The spirit of Hamburg 1961 was definetely gone after touring A Hard Day´s Night in 1964!

They have novelty and charm, but once that wares of, yup, they're very weak!

No it wasnt. The Beatles were playing football stadiums. Most bands, including the Stones, were still playing theatres.

thats true, but the stones could have easily done shea and candlestick if they chose, it was up to andrew to set it up but i guess they were content, plus the sound was awful so why do it, no doubt they were popular enough at the time

Didn't the stones play a few stadiums during the 1967 European tour? One in Greece perhaps?

They chose to bow out w/grace and perfect timing, unlike Mick, who chose to go on and on and on.

Imagine if the Stones had stopped touring after Altamont? Keith and Charlie and Bill would have moved on and Mick Jagger and prolly Mick Taylor would have started their own band, that we'd be seeing live nowadays.

Do you think anyone heard anything in a theater?

Man...just goes to show, that had they decided to tour, they would have killed--with the improvement in technology and the reduction in hysteria (well maybe not for them) but they sound awesome, especially when you consider they had not toured in three years.

completely different era for touring bands...they toured when everything was slip-shot and the promotors took the lions share of the gate....they only played for 30 minutes and were virtual prisoners in their rooms...
no one knew how to put on a big show then...the PA system at Shea was probably the best they got...incidently the televised version of Shea (parts or included in the Anthology DVD) is a much better indicator of them as a live act...unfortunately they didn't tour after 1966...by 1969 the whole thing had changed and become (some what) more professional.

The last Beatles live performance, and classic. Drugged out Lennon, with that great shaving nic on his neck and the mohair jacket, jamming out some great guitar...man they are great on the roof! I Dig a Poney is classic stuff...they are all at the peak of their game together...

so why does George kneel for a moment there - just flexing his moves? :E

(and just to get it off my chest: Paul getting all giddy over being really bad
and risking arrest is mighty silly.) (sorry. cool footage anyway.)

Sorry to inform you that it was Stu who called the Stones the "three-chord wonders"...most Beatles songs have much more complex chord progressions (but, of course, I've always like the Stones more)

To KingBee: The Beatles also did "If I Needed Someone" during the last tour; in Japan at least I know it was played.

>> Which bit? <<

uh ... the bit where he goes down on his knees briefly. :E
is it I Dig a Pony, maybe? i'll have to watch it again,
but i didn't notice him fiddling with anything once he's down there.
no big deal, just wondered if it was mentioned in any of the Literature that's grown up around this film.
you know my Thing for guitarists who get down on their knees simply because they can ... :E

ohh yeah, i'm famous for it! first started back in 81, and been getting more pronounced ever since
i don't know why. :E

but anyway the Bit In Question is indeed in I Dig a Pony - about 58 seconds into Part 3.
the beauty of the music like to overcome him for a few seconds there?
and/or the weight of that rosewood Tele?
or was he communicating something to John, or simply flexing his Cool Stage Moves?

George always was my favourite of 'em - thanks & praises, love & light

I think he is funning with John because John is reading the lyrics of the board being held by that there man in front of him.
