Eric Burdon is playing the Santa Monica Pier tomorrow night; Pretty sure I'll be in that area for a piece of that. Have friends just a short walk from there...we'll see. I've seen him before very many years ago with one or another version of the various 'new animals,'...i have seen a fairly recent clip from a daytime TV talk show in the UK. Was a bit surprised at his appearance but also regularly surprised by my own. little old gnome there; but such a grand great sweeping important voice. His hits are solid and indelible. Their "Maudie" cover (John Lee Hooker's song; he had cut it himself a year before The Animals LP covered it) was so powerful; I hadn't heard anything at all about JL Hooker previous to that...
