I went and saw Hank Williams Jr last Saturday. He was very good. He opened with

a Neil Young song so I was pumped from the very start!

Eric Burdon is playing the Santa Monica Pier tomorrow night; Pretty sure I'll be in that area for a piece of that. Have friends just a short walk from there...we'll see. I've seen him before very many years ago with one or another version of the various 'new animals,'...i have seen a fairly recent clip from a daytime TV talk show in the UK. Was a bit surprised at his appearance but also regularly surprised by my own. little old gnome there; but such a grand great sweeping important voice. His hits are solid and indelible. Their "Maudie" cover (John Lee Hooker's song; he had cut it himself a year before The Animals LP covered it) was so powerful; I hadn't heard anything at all about JL Hooker previous to that...

Petty in Boston Friday 7-21. Although I might sell my ticket. He has been playing the same 19 songs every night no deviation at all you would think 40th anniversary tour he would be mixing the shit out of the setlist. He is playing at least 5 songs I have no use for and not playing 5 songs I love. No: The Waiting, Even the Losers, Change of Heart, Don't do me like that, I need to know.

I bought my ticket during a massive ticket price drop a week or so before original date last March- paid $250 face for a $500 ticket on ticketmaster.
The same day show was postponed, similar tickets that were listed at $250 from price drops jumped back up to $500! Happy I got the deal, didn't really faze me when it was postponed, and now kind of hoping it happens.

I saw James Taylor with Bonnie Raitt last night at Wrigley field. Nice show with a great Johnny B Goode in tribute with both of them on stage.

Just added Coldplay and Bruno Mars both in August in Chicago to my upcoming list.

Roger Waters this Sunday.

And of course on to Barcelona and Amsterdam for the greatest band! Plus the IORR band.
