Somehow just scored front row tickets (paid face value, $145) for tomorrow night's Steely Dan show. Never seen 'em before. Really looking forward to it.

How was Steely Dan? I throttled back to wait for the Stones South America dates.

It came pretty close to achieving musical and sonic perfection. These guys are operating on a whole other level. Their drummer, whoever he is, is one of the best I've ever seen. Greatest hits show. All seven of their classic albums were represented. They played almost all of Aja. The arrangements were mostly true to the original studio versions, but even when they strayed a little they were still very good. No real clunkers, though I could have done without Walter's "rap" during "Hey Nineteen," and his lead vocal on "Daddy Don't Live In That New York City No More" provided the closest thing we got to a "piss break" song during the entire evening.

Elvis Costello and the Imposters were the opening act, but we arrived late and missed half their set.

Totally agree! Saw them last summer.
Musically and sonically one of the best shows I have seen in many years.

Yeah, I went to Solid Sound, Wilco's big festival in Western Massachusetts, this summer for the first time. I have seen Wilco a number of times, and the band just keeps evolving and growing on me more and more. Have fun on 8/11! I am hoping for some more dates this fall/winter to support the excellent new album.

My next show is Heartless Bastards in September.. Can't wait.

IMO, everybody in that band is an unreal musician. Now that the current lineup has been around 10 years they are seamless. I really like Jeff Tweedy's songwriting, too. He kind of reminds me of Neil Young in some ways. & Nels Cline just stuns. He's like Jeff Beck if Jeff had come up via punk rock. I've seen them several times & they just keep getting better to my ears. Really like the new cd. Very cool how they put it out as a total surprise. There are several good tapes from this tour floating around the net including the show you went to. The last one from the Pitchfork Festival starts with the new album played straight through. First time any of those songs played live. Check it out!

In September it's AC/DC, Foo Fighters and Social Distortion...

Just picked up tickets for the cult and Primal Scream in November ...I bet you can guess which of these 2 bands I am more interested in seeing.

Coming Up

CRB Nedfest
Phish 3x Denver
The Who Denver
Gilmour 2x Hollywood Bowl
Gilmour 2x MSG

So far this year;

Govt Mule w/ Scofield
NMA w/Anders Osborne
Tweedy and Minus5
CRB x 3
Tedeschi Trucks Red Rocks
Rolling Stones KC
Steely Dan/Elvis C Red Rocks
Neil Young and Promise of the Real Red Rocks
Rush Denver
Wilco Red Rocks

The best shows I've seen so far this year would be the Neil and Wilco shows. This was my 12th Wilco show and they always deliver. Neil Young just killed it, played a 3 hour show besides the new album he played a ton of hits and deep tracks with some intense jamming with Promise of the Real. The set lists from this short tour were phenomenal. If he does more shows with this band, I may have to do a road trip.

Really looking forward to the DG shows.

The next concert ticket I buy will be for The Stones in Argentina - whenever that maybe. (I can't afford with my RS addiction to buy tickets to see any other bands - not that I want too anyway)

Cheers

Always thought they would be studio but obviously not. Good call and thanks.
