none!
Since late April I have seen Bob Dylan (Porto, Lisboa (2x), Madrid (2x), Sevilla (2x) and Granada) Ryan Adams (Paris and Brussels), Guns´n'Roses (Madrid and Frankfurt) and Springsteen (Paris) – should be enough for a while (only one of these shows was in my home country!)

Where did you see them? Were they that bad?
I’m considering catching them in Glasgow.
I have seen the Chili Peppers with John Frusciante twice, in 2002 and 2007, both shows were good. Has something changed?

Not bad at all, just a band i dont really like live while californication is in my all time top 10 albums. Saw them 3 times now and found them underwelming every time. Bigger fans than me loved the show, so if you loved the previous shows i am pretty sure you should love this one too.

You are not the only one who claims that the RHCP are great on records, not so much on live performances — an intriguing remark considering the three instrumentalists are top-notch in their respective fields (here I’m talking about John Frusciante rather than Josh Klinghoffer who is a decent guitarist on his own).

I agree. Great musicians, but it just doesn't click live. However their rotations of setlist is something I (as a Stones fan) can only dream of.

I changed my mind… – GnR in Rome on Saturday, Bob Dylan in Rome on Sunday

Saw Culture Club / Rod Stewart on Tuesday . Culture Club opened with Sympathy for the Devil and were pretty good. Rod brought Vegas to a poorly attended Hull

Hollywood Vampires last night were surprisingly good . Alice Cooper is a legend . Great musicianship , OK maybe not Johnny Depp, but he sang a very nice version of Heroes though.

The Who tonight .

Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes were awesome. We were their last stop on a tour before they headed home. It was a perfect way to enjoy his raucous show: from a bar seat only 25 feet away. Johnny reminded us how he lived in Richmond for awhile in the early 1970s, back when here and back home were the only places that the Jersey shore rockers, i.e. him, Springsteen, and SVZ, could draw crowds and earn a buck. VCU is in a cool part of town and has a big, highly rated art achool. Art schools and rock n roll have always mixed well. That's the simple answer to the supposed head-scratcher of why Richmond was the only place outside of North Jersey to totally embrace Springsteen 1969 - 1972 as he was struggling to get established. Bruce, whether fronting Child, Steel Mill, Dr Zoom, or the BS Band just really struck a chord, literally, with the freaky art school kids down in the Fan district, and they adopted him.

On to "next."

A couple of additions and one date change since the last list. Throwing in price for one ticket for reference.

July 30 - Ana Popovic - Richmond. $45 (+ a $15 minimum)

Aug 8 - Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit - Richmond. $99

Aug 12 - Parliament Funkadelic featuring George Clinton - Richmond. $90

Aug 19 - John Fogerty - Fairfax County VA. Row O, $194

Aug 25 - Joss Stone - DC. In an old, 1,850 seat theater, balcony front row. $110

Aug 31 - Gary Clark Jr - Doswell VA. Row 8. $72

Sep 8 - Black Crowes - Doswell VA. Row 7. $94

Sep 29 - Bruce Springsteen (stadium) - DC. Date changed from Aug 28 was a good one for me, enabled me to upgrade to the pit. $370

Oct 17 - Buddy Guy - Richmond. $78

Nov 25 - Liz Phair - DC. $95

Dec 2 - Samantha Fish ftg. Jesse Dayton. Jon Spencer opens - Richmond. $68

Giving sone thought to possibly John Hiatt in September.

Edit: Buddy added.
Another edit: Samantha (et al) added.

Only got one upcoming, The Darkness, Dublin 3rd December. Justin Hawkins et al playing their classic debut album in full for its 20th Anniversary.

As a live act they are supremely entertaining, and those catchy as heck songs make superb sense in the live arena. My daughter, only 9, is hoping to attend a rock concert, so if the Darkness announce a show down here (played Limerick 2015, 2017) we're there smiling smiley

Taking my kids to see Lana del Rey. Cat Power thinks she's good, so she must be good.

C

NME just gave her a rave review for a show in London. [www.nme.com]

Lana's got something, I hope to see her live at some point.

Nearly a year away? That seems ridiculous! Mind you, I am a little out of the concert-going loop. Are big tours generally put on sale so, so far in advance? Obviously, they are, though I don't ever remember purchasing Stones tickets so early.
