We're Stones' fans, bluzdude; braver, less inhibited, less concerned with others' impressions of what we do, not afraid of scorn. We're a tougher cut of rock and roll fan even when we admit to seeing non-tough sounding music.

We're also not afraid to show our feelings, which brings me to my next shows. It's starting to sink in that this Roger Waters Wall tour is indeed probably the last tour ever of any member of Pink Floyd, which makes me really sad. The mess-with-your-head quadraphonic sound snippets swirling across the arena, the socially conscious and indicative wry lyrics, the spacy minor key blues-based songs, the psychedelics and visuals. The Stones and Floyd sent me off on a 30 year exploration and soon it will be the last time I see any of them.

Roger Waters in Pittsburgh and then DC, 9/26 and 10/11.

Roger Waters. But that is in April 2011! I hope something else worth seeing will pop up untill then.

This looks like the longest concert gap in years!

I had a ticket for Charlie Watts' Boogie Woogie in November, but it got cancelled and another for Jerry Lee Lewis- also in November, also got cancelled. :-(

Was at Wilco on Friday - pretty good. Wouldnt rush to see 'em again though.

Then, Dave Rawlings Machine (with Gillian Welch) and Old Crow Medicine Show on Saturday - utterly fantastic. For the 'warhorse apologists' who seem to think that you have to know all or most of a band's catalogue to 'enjoy' their show, this was an example of what a load of bollocks that theory is. Knew next to nothing of either of them (especially Rawlings), and it was as brilliant a concert as I've seen in well over a year. Great value for £20.

This week - John Cooper Clarke on Thursday. Should be a hoot.

November - Eleanor McEvoy, Justin Townes Earle, The Gaslight Anthem.
December - Arcade Fire, Steve Forbert.

Aerosmith Thursday night in Vancouver. Some talk in the local media hyping the show since it's the last of the tour and possibly last ever. Rumours of Steve Tyler being one of the new judges on American Idol, Perry looking for a new vocalist, Perry "accidentally" bumping Tyler off the stage in Toronto, etc. have added fuel to the hype.
When tickets were announced, I thought to myself that I just saw them in town with Motley Crue but then I realized that was almost 4 years ago, just after the Stones show! Time flies.
I'm sure there will be the usual "reunion" tour in a couple of years.
