I think the larger it is, the better it will look, then yo will really be able to see the photos.

I agree. Bigger is better!

Schillid, it's absolutely brilliant and i'll order one.
But one question: for what reason does Mick have less torso and a bigger head?
Shouldn't they all have the same proportions? I think this will look a little bit better.

Let it rock!

Mick is first, Mick is slightly larger. Keith is next. Then Ronnie.
Charlie is fourth. He is also just slightly smaller than the other three. The colors are in this order: Red, Blue, Yellow, and Green. As BV, might say... no more discussion.

I think that the smaller the design gets, the less detail can be achieved with the tiny dots of the 4-color printing process. The detail in the faces will start to get lost if the design is too small. But it shouldn't be too large either... what do you all think... about 25 cm across sound good? (That's about 10" across)

Some other points...

I am concerned about getting the yellow to be dark enough to be able to see Woody in white, but the yellow not starting to become brownish. I'd also like to go just a little deeper with the green, to give it some more separation from the yellow....But not to let the green get too dark against the black. (I know this is all boring graphic design babbling to many people...)

Can anyone comment on achieving these color goals with CMYK silkscreening?

Scillid, usually red is the hardest to make look right doing the four color process. You do have a good reason to be worried about the yellow too. I am sure they will do a flash of white first this will make the darker parts of Ronnie harder to see unless they use some dark gray or black half tones imprinting with the yellow. Keep in mind that what your printer prints out and what a four color screen print looks like when it is printed are not the same. Hopefully the people doing this are good at doing four color process. It is a tricky thing trying to get the end results to look like they are supposed to. You are correct in making the images as large as possible. The bigger the image the better the details will be. Normall full size imprints are right at 12" wide or 30 cm. Great Design! Best of luck! I can't wait to see them!

Is there any way that the printer can use four OTHER colors, not C,M,Y, and K over the white flash?

Can't the printer use the EXACT red that we want over the white? Ditto for the blue, yellow, and greeen?

Your thinking on size and the coloring.
Thanks!

To get some deeper details you can use the black colour of the shirt.
the shadows of the images would have to be spared out (transparent) on the white underlayer. this can be archieved thru rasterization.

Dont worry about the colours - in silkscreening you can exactly choose almost any colours needed.
your not stuck to CMYK format.

I would prefer to not to have use black of the shirt in that way. The white over the colors is very subtle... Black would fight that, I think.

I would like to see the printer NOT use standard CMYK colors. Instead use a nice warm red; a "cobalt" blue; a WARM yellow (not a cold process yellow); and a rich green. Screen these four colors over the white underlayer... and that should work. Right?

How would I prepare color separations in that case? Photoshop will convert automatically to CMYK... but I'm not sure what separation needs to be done from the original RGB file.

Hmmm...will the shirt itself be white or black?
I prefer black, but white might work as well.

I'm confused now (doh!).

shirt will be black
a layer of white ink is printed first... then the 4 colors.

Schillid, I would love to help ion this subject, but I'm afraid I just don't know.

What I do know, is that there should not be a big problem with the CYMK, just like RGB it should be able to mix about any colournuance you want. About photoshop: in the preference-menu you can decide wether you want your photoshop to work with RGB or CMYK. Whatever you choose doesn't matter much, BUT, important is to stick to one format, and the most important is to stick to the format used by the processing/printing company. If you will deliver them the drawing in CMYK and they print it RGB, the result can be drastically different.
I've seen presentation banners by architects printed CMYK while delivered RGB: it still looks good, but it's not what you've designed and worked so hard for. This is no story to scare you, if you stick to the right format, there will be no problem.

This is the first time I've seen the design for the new shirt.

Love the design but that would have to be the ugliest photo of Mick I've ever seen. He looks like a monkey.

Just interested as to why this particular photo was chosen for the shirt?

I think it's great, no criticisms at all and congrats to schillid for all the work/effort etc. Can't wait to see the shirt for real.

Mick looks like Mick. I think they all are captured perfectly. Mick with his microphone up close. Charlie with his drums hard working. Ronnie and Keith with their guitars. Men at work.

Forgive me if this question has been answered already.

How will I be able to acquire a shirt here in the U.S.? What sizes will be offered, cost, etc.?

Thanks

Design looks great!

I think the design though would work better on a white or off-white/camel shirt.

I think the design would blend in to a black shirt and not be as visible.

The T-shirt will be available to anyone who visit IORR or who subscribe to the IORR magazine. As soon as the design is finished - i.e. I get the original for printing - it will be prepared for production. Shortly after it will be made available. The plan is to have the same price - non-profit based - for anyone all over the world. There will be all needed sizes, male and female shirts. It will be ready some time later this month. Sort of now or never!
