Do remember the brand?
I have seen old Roberts tube reel to reels for sale that supposedly could be modified to guitar amps.
Greetings from the Jersey Shore.
That surprises me. In a way those older models are funky in their layout. Why would you have en extension speaker jack on such a tiny lo-fi recorder? I had to sound pretty bad coming out (?)

I used to play electric guitar through a reel-to-reel tape deck that had its own speaker. It had a VU meter but no limiter. When you plugged the guitar in, pushed "record" and drove the meter into the red, it sounded like Lennon's guitar on "Revolution". Fantastic. Wish I still had it.
