I have seen old Roberts tube reel to reels for sale that supposedly could be modified to guitar amps.

That surprises me. In a way those older models are funky in their layout. Why would you have en extension speaker jack on such a tiny lo-fi recorder? I had to sound pretty bad coming out (?)
