There's an OK recording from Cleveland.

>>Also what are the otheer great ones from this tour?<<
You better look around for Buffalo June 15th 1975. (1st half of the show)
And....Hold On Tight (last MSG show), plus Toronto and 1st LA.
There's other great(er) shows, but the quality is a notch worse than the ones I mentioned above.

The shows that Erik mentioned are very good.......the L.A. Friday boot that you're talking about is actually from a sunday (7/13/75) and it's a very good audience recording.

They also have a collection out of all the LA shows called Wine Women and Song I think. I would go for the LA and NY shows and then one disc that gives all the best of the rest (eg Baton Rouge, NYC on the truck)

There is also a 6-CD collection of the LA shows called "The Lost Millard Masters". All audience recording. It was posted on chocoreve.blogspot.com some time ago with these comments:

Cd 1+2+3(first 7 songs) very good to excellent quality
cd 3(last 6 songs) + 4 crappy quality
cd 5+ 6 excellent quality

"Mike Millard used a portable Nakamichi stereo cassette deck, AKG microphones, and a wheel chair as his recording mechanism. He was a notorious taper of L.A. Forum shows and unfortunately committed suicide in 1990."

Concerning the "lost Millard Masters"-set...it's a very nice box, but it's not the best possible quality for some of the shows.

Forgot: of course you must locate Keith doing "Sure the one you need" which he only did in KC and Milwaukee I think.

Ok.......here's what I know about boots from the '75 tour.....
I say what I KNOW because I have all these.....I've HEARD of other good recordings but I haven't heard them myself...but these are the best ones that I have......

Baton Rouge 6/1 2nd show- pretty good audience recording. Worth checking out.
Buffalo 6/15- soundboard recording of first half of the show. Good performance.
Toronto 6/17- good audience recording, good performance.
New York 6/22- good audience recording, fair to good performance, features Eric Clapton on "Sympathy For The Devil".
New York 6/27- good audience recording, good performance.
L.A. 7/9- pretty good audience recording, very good performance
L.A. 7/11- soundboard recording but not a good performance.
L.A. 7/13- excellent audience recording, very good performance.
Fort Collins 7/20- good audience recording, good performance
Detroit 7/28- soundboard recording, fair performance.

......I've also heard that the 2nd Chicago show and the Jacksonville show are very good performances but I know nuthing about the recording quality except that they're not soundboards.

I have the Cleveland '75. Searched for it for years because that was my first show. It's nearly unlistenable however. Too bad because it was a great show with a couple rarities played that early evening. Show was over by nine if memory serves.

You're right R tyhat Cleveland is terrible quality. But I'm not sure which rarities you mean; they did do "Luxury" but in those early stages that was still normal.

Yea, the Luxury was the rarity on that show...not that rare though, they didn't play it after Toronto.
I think Cleveland was a mighty big concert, how many were there in the audience? 100.000?

Agreed. The second show on 7/16 was my first Stones show. I FINALLY just got the boot the other day after all these years and, since I was flying into San Francisco the night I got them in the mail, drove straight to the Cow Palace from the airport, no way to get into the grounds, so I stopped the car outside where I could see the building with the words COW PALACE on it and listened to the first few minutes of the boot and was pleasantly surprised at the quality, pretty damn good for boots of that era.

Someone kept opening their curtains and looking at me and when I drove back around the building, a cop came the other way but did not stop me, must have been called by the person at the window. The whole place looks about exactly the same as I remember it.

But I thought this was perfect -- that I hear my first Stones show from July 16 '75 for the first time since then at the same place where I first heard it.

Does anyone know the quality of Bloomington 75? this show always amazed me: a major act like the Stones play University of Indiana. Ironically, the Who also played there later that year.

Get The Complete LA Friday Tapes - from LA July 10 and 13, 1975. That's by far the best I've heard, especially IYCRM-GOOMC from July 13, and Heartbreaker from July 10.

The best L.A version is the wooden box by Pignose Records "The L.A Tapes" 10CDs
Best by far...read the Hotwacks review...

The LA show from the 9th is a better recording than the so-called soundboard from the LA Friday discs.

the 9th is great for sure. LA Friday (the VGP title), though, is actually from the 7/13 Sunday show. The soundboard from 7/11 has it's moments, but there are problems with it, for sure.
