was that an actual b-side? i think it was just a toss-in on Sucking in the 70's....

No Use In Crying is not only a great b-side but a better song than Start Me Up. far from 'compared to SMU, anything will pale" I find it one of their most overrated songs. Its a great riff. Nothing more.
best b-side : Child of The Moon worst b-side : Anyway you look At It
Re: a couple of questions above
The live When The Whip Comes Down wasnt a b-side but featured on Sucking In the 70's. The studio version however was the b-side to Beast of Burden (and 'Respectable' in the UK)

almost . . . but not quite. what about mick's nasaly "seeeeeeen" at 2:43? it's a great riff plus that moment. nothing more.
Ok..I'll give you that. Its a great radio friendly single which got the desired effect. As a song, I've always found it to be one of the weaker tracks on the album (great album though it is) - and thats not down to over familiarity either.
It's left to me to propose that "Sweet Black Angel" is the best Stones b-side ever?
It seems like such a great, bizarre companion for "Tumbling Dice." I wasn't around at the time, but I imagine that if I had heard on release, my head would have been spinning, wondering about the forthcoming album...
I just love that ramshackle West Indian vibe on that track. One of my alltime favorites.
(I've also always liked "Down In The Hole" as a blues companion to the dance of "Emotional Rescue. So eclectic, so cool.)
Other favorites:
"Fancyman Blues" "The Storm" "Good Times, Bad Times" "What A Shame"
Svartmer......dont take any notice of me I'm a flippin' kinda guy...was thinking of gettin' a sex-change but then thought what's the friggin' use 'cause haven't worn out the one I got....have a good Xmas...
Best - Album Track, Ruby Tuesday. Nonalbum track - Jump On Top of Me
Worst - I've always found Cook Cook Blues to be a bit of a strange B-Side and the B-Side to Mick's song on the Performance soundtrack was a disappointment.

well - neither the a or B side were Stones songs...
Reminds me of both the Brian years AND side two of Ooh La La.
That's an amazing 45. I was knocked out the first time I heard SMU on my car radio.
It was another unforgettable moment the first time I played No Use In Crying on my turntable. The Stones were BACK!!
It was a great time to be a Stones fan. Shortly after Tattoo You came out, I was sitting in a topless bar while a dj played the ENTIRE FIRST SIDE (it was unheard of to play more than one song by an artist at a time) and then proclaimed, "THE STONES ARE BACK!!"
