Revisit: A Bigger Bang's Production

Some don't like it, saying that the drums are too loud. I disagree. The way I've got my system EQ'ed, it sounds like a Rick Rubin production, with a bit more depth/ambience added. Rough Justice, Let Me Down Slow and It Won't Take Long have that open air live sound that I really like.

Charlie's sound is indeed compact and loud. It reminds me of the "stairwell" sound that was featured on "I Go Wild", from Voodoo Lounge. Nothing wrong with that, IMHO.

To be honest, I much prefer this to the muddled sound of "Exile".

revisiting ABB's production would require me revisiting ABB in general. ain't gonna happen . . .

Bridges to Babylon and a Biggerbang are great albums to me, they have only few weak spots which are easy to name, I think BtB is overproduced sometimes and aBB is underproduced sometimes! The Back of my hand liveversion makes the wonderful albumversion seem like a demo!

I don't like ABB's production. It sounds way too muddy and unmixed. A cleaner, more punchier production could have benefited the whole album, Rain Fall Down and Streets Of Love in particular, which, although they are great songs, sound like they were recorded through a phone.

I love B2B's production, very fresh.

The production is good but the digital sound is not good for the Stones.

You gotta be joking. You want a cleaner production on ABB? You think those slick-ass songs sound like they're recorded through a phone?!

The production of ABB is boring, slick, too clean, too lean, too flat. It sucks. Fire Don Was (and Mick Jagger) ASAP, please.

How anyone prefers the production of ABB over Exile I will never grasp. The production/mix on Exile -- just like on all Jimmy Miller albums except possibly GHS -- is a masterpiece, in my opinion.

I don't think the production is the problem w/ ABB.
The problem is in the yawnable songwriting, something which has troubled their albums since 86.

(I know people dislike Emotional Rescue, but it would be for different reasons. You can't say that their 73-80 output wasn't at least fun).

amen jamesfd! the production is the least of the problems with abb. i'll take crappy production on good tunes anyday...that's not what we have here...

LMFAO!!!!
It's the worst with SW, at least SW had some great tunes and hits on it.

The album is definitely underproduced for such a high-profile band. Some of the sounds are not good, and should make you reconsider their boasting about how quick and easy it was to record. Then again, would better production help? The worst songs on B2B are really killed by the sterile, slick sound.

....... my take is the stones dont like ABBang...

creativity has an ebb and flow in life, consistant sustaintion is extremely rare...
look how many darts they threw at the board (16-18) an missed a bulls eye.......

think ill give it a spin right now,, its been like eight months since i heard a crack off of the bang......

the second and third songs hauntedly remind me of a fling a year ago,, better unload before i push play........
