No way! RJ, IWTL, RFD, SOL, BOMH, TPIE, ONNYA (excluding Infamy, and maybe including DTF) are the very best from ABB. They may not have played much per concert, but they have indeed showed that they know what the best tracks are from the album.

Also the best tracks from VL are LIS, YGMR, SWF, The Worst, I Go Wild and Out Of Tears (With New Faces and Moon Is Up bubbling right under).

SA is one of the best from SW too.

I like it. But I don't go wild over it.

I agree with some earlier poster's assessment of Voodoo Lounge as a good album. It touches heights that no recent Stones record probably has. Unfortunately, the filler stuff is some of the worst crap I have ever heard from the Stones (Sweethearts Together, New Faces, and Suck on the Jugular). As a package, I think it would have worked best as a 12-song album.

Nothing against Bill but he was hardly the secret lynchpin of the Rolling Stones.

Some Girls is a classic, Voodoo Lounge is not. I do like The Worst and Love Is Strong though.

Nobody said that. But if you're in a group for so long and your bassist has been with you from the start, of course it's gonna be different. At such a time it's time to either put up or shut up. The Stones really put up and made a great classic album. Voodoo Lounge was the best since Exile On Main Street with Some Girls, Tattoo You, Black & Blue and A Bigger Bang (Which again are followed closely by the likes of Bridges To Babylon, Steel Wheels and Undercover).

The Stones didn't have much to prove with Some Girls?! Bullshit. The last three albums they made were slagged by critics and they were quickly being viewed as dinosaurs and out-of-date. Some Girls saved them and made them a serious force in music again. But they didn't have that mentality that they HAD to prove something. They just made kick-ass music and incorporated modern elements into their music, something sorely lacking from VL.

The fact that they are trying hard to prove something with Voodoo Lounge hurts the album, they sound contrived, sterile, and forced. The album has its merits, but it's no classic and it's very overrated. And it's definitely not the best since SG or anything since the 70's. In fact, it's their worst album since DW.

It is not there best song, but I like it, it has funny lyrics and the liveversion rocked during the VL-Tour!

I don't think you're right mate. The reason being that the music that was popular in 1994 was grunge, and VL sounded kindda grungy and stripped down (Compared to SW at least). The fact that they had something to prove in 1978 is probably correct, but they hardly had more to prove then than they had in 1994 with an original member missing, for the first time in some 25 years.
