My three favorite bands are all British Invasion bands (Stones, Who, Kinks). I also like a lot of songs from the lesser known artists like Gerry And The Pacemakers, Hermans Hermits etc..
I recently saw Peter Noone doing a late night infomercial on american tv- selling one of those 60's cd compilations.
Eventually I will try to get a good British Invasion compilation cd since there are so many good songs from that era.

It is weird: there is not a British Invasion band besides the Stones that I like even a little. betales and Stones - yes, The rest I really don't go for. From that era I only like Black music.

Footage of Soupy doing "The Mouse" is on the Beatles/Ed Sullivan Show DVD set that features the ENTIRE program (even commercials) for all their performances on Ed's show.
(his sons Hunt and Tony Sales would grow up to be > the rhythm section in David Bowie's Tin > Machine)...
Earliest credit I can think of for them is on a Todd Rundgren album. I think it was A Wizard/A True Star.
Also played with Bowie backing Iggy on The Idiot and Lust for Life. Saw them in '77 at the Whiskey post-Iggy/Idiot tour performing as the Brothers Sales, opening for Blondie (I think) The only thing I can recall about their show is they covered "Sweet Soul Music." Which was great to hear in the disco era, (That same year The Dwight Twilley Band played the Roxy and encored with "Expressway To Your Heart," one of the best non-Rascals blue-eyed soul records ever, and Eddie and the Hot Rods covered "Show Me" by Joe Tex.
None of those versions were actually any good. But at least a few people were out there still waving the flag.
Do the Who count? I think they where a bit later on????
The Animals would be my bet.
As just mentioned, Freddie and the dreamers where good, long before my time, but I saw them at Butlins many years ago when I was just a kid and I thought they where great, everything I thought a band should be, sounding good and having fun!

Totally agree, the who were/are awsome, but I thought that they came a bit after the "British Invasion" that Ropeni is talking about? Not sure? 1964,65, is that about the right time?
