That's an almost impossible task. So many good ones in this period. Rough Justice. Back Of My Hand. Flip The Switch. Out Of Control. The Storm. Sparks Will Fly. Break The Spell.
...I could go on and on. Put my head on the block and raise the axe and I'd have to say Rough Justice. Ask me tomorrow and it will probably be a different answer.
Too many to mention -- yes, even for the much maligned latter stones years of '83 onwards -- I for one feel there is much to savour, many wonderful tracks..
Okay,so,if to choose just ONE:
Almost Hear You Sigh -- glorious balladry,up there with their best!
I was starting to lose hope here the first page and a half into this posting....I do concur that this period has seen some of the BEST material produced by the boys (Love Is Strong - really all of Voodoo Lounge, Don't Stop, Slipping Away, Infamy - live, Jump on Top of Me, all of ABB, Pretty Beat Up, Highwire, Tie You Up (the Pain of Love) ), but to pick the best song from this Era is such an easy task, and by far there is NO question as to what it is..............................................................................
ALMOST HEAR YOU SIGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It should have been a #1 Single!!! It is a true Stones classic in EVERY sense of the word. It's Ruby Tuesday for the modern times. It's the stones being the stones without even trying. It is such a beautifully written, sung, performed song that words do not even do it justice, and the solo in the middle every time I hear it I am more blown away than the prior time by just how amazing this song is.
Without a doubt the best of this period!!

At first, this seems like a silly question/thread, but it's actually quite interesting, 'cos there's so many suggestions that makes you think "...yeah, that's a really good one..I'll put it on right now"
Too Much Blood - Undercover One Hit - Dirty Work Almost Hear You Sigh - Steel Wheels Love Is Stong - Voodoo Lounge Out Of Control - Bridges Laugh I Nearly Died - ABB
Continental Drift and Laugh I Nearly Died. Sorry, but I can't choose ONLY ONE! And if "Blue" was a Stones recording and not a Jagger solo tune, this would complete my holy trinity. In fact, "Blue" sounds more like a Stones recording than many Stones recordings since 1983.
One song is not enough, absolutely impossible to choose only one, so I would choose Laugh i nearly Died , Back of my hand, Out of control , Saint of me, Love is strong and maybe Pretty beat up.
