They were asked to contribute the title song for Goldeneye during the Voodoo Lounge sessions, but declined. Bono and The Hedge wrote the song which Tina Turner sang in her best Shirley Bassey impression.

Yes they were asked - I remember being horified by the thought at the time.

Bond is great for artists with a more "melodic" style of music than the stones who are a rock n roll band. All bond themes have something in common and the stones just don't compromise.

......I seem to recall Jagger(with D Stewart) winning a well deserved Golden Globe for the Alfie soundtrack not too long ago.....obviously Jagger/Richards are 2 of the most accomplished song writers.....so it's not a question of whether they can do it........it's more like...... do they want to?

good call on Heartbreaker Elmo. I remmeber when I first heard it, before I really knew anything about the stones or their ablums, I thought It might have been from a movie soundtrack. It kind of reninded me of The theme from Shaft By Issaic hayes for some reason.

Thunderball seems like the movie that I would want a Stones-theme from, if I had to pick one.

I dont know a lot of james bond movies. I think Duran Duran's view to a kill was a cool song actually. that song actually incorperated the james bond theme music into it. but that probably wasnt the best bond flick. and of course theres Live and Let Die, a great song. I never saw the movie though.

the theme tune, for the upcoming, much anticipated, 'Casino Royale'.

A guy from Texas named Webb Wilder does an awesome job with "Goldfinger".

As Elmo ducks for cover he says, "McCartney's "Live And Let Die" is a good one, too."

The theme performed by Nancy Sinatra and Shirley Bassey is lovel!
Even Duran Duran is tolerable there...
And Tom Jones aint exactly mistreatin' ol' Goldfinger.
