I only heared/read great stories about the shows in Seattle an the other cold ones. Not sold out, but great shows with lots of energy and scarfs, hats, gloves. People are experiencing extra energy from the band on rainy and cold nights. The question is if the fans can cope with the weather....?

Especially when they are growing older and older, it is the summer we have to fear... See the death-figures in for example France after a very hot summer: high peekes among the elderly after each heatwave. NO MORE SUMMER TOURS!!!

They're sure used to the heat with their spare time mansions in
Bermuda, Jamaica etc. Exception possibly Ron & Charlie.

As long as they perform at nite I dont see any big risks. :-)

Doesn't Ron take trips to Africa? So he would be used to the heat too.

"It's seriously beginning to show - they are getting too old for this..."

- no one said that to BB King or John Lee Hooker. The Stones are just like the old blues men, they will play as long as they live. Only death can stop blues men playing gigs. It's all about love and joy, not money or anything else.

yep. Only flaw is I cant see them doing that while they still insist on such huge guarantees for every show. THAT is whats driving the shows outdoors. Most arenas cant afford them.

You're quite embarrasing to listen to bro'. Keith falling down a tree, and the following posponements, has nothing to do with getting too old, so that doesn't count. They have cancelled about 5 shows this entire tour as far as I can see. It's a real frickin' shame for the people who was touched by the postponements be it Keith's accident or the 4 or 5 laryngitis shows. You're the frickin' embarrasing one. Not knowing you facts. Shame on you. Go listen to Roxy Music you pervert. :-)

How about this: They do only arena tours. Two shows a week. A few more albums. And as Townsend said: "Don't try to grow old gracefully, it wouldn't suit you".

As I said: The tree shows doesn't count as being too old. The laryngitis shows do.

So Mick was also too old in 98 when they cancelled Milan and Bilbao due to his laryngitis?

No not really. You know I don't think so. When they're being roled out on stage in wheelchairs I might think they're getting too old. Not now. But the laryngitis thing has more to do with getting old than falling off a tree I think.

I agree with Kent.

Keith's encounter with a shrub which apparently didn't want him to sit on it was totally unrelated to later cancellations for the more mundane reasons of Micks's voice.
With the benefit of hindsight, it's maybe the case that details of the current tour itenery could maybe have been planned a little differently [and issues handled a little more diplomatically]...but none of it really has anything to do with being too old.

I don't care guys. That's my opinion.

I would like to see:

1. Shorther and therefore more concentrated tours.
2. Albums like A Bigger Bang every 4-5 years.
3. More exclusive releases like a new docomentary and some further rarities releases.

And by the way:
The line: "It's seriously beginning to show - they are getting too old for this..." is refering to their physical state, NOT their artistically performances. So comparing them to BB King and the likes you can't. They have also settled down and only touring from time to time.

The amount they do today seems good. 2 or 3 shows per week.

Or even better: EVERY YEAR!!!

Yes. When they're done in my opinion.

With all due respect, what does it refer to then?

That would be a logistic hell - trying to drop dead all at the same time? *lol*

I'd like to bloody think they could release albums a lot more frequently than youre hoping for. Especially with three songwriters in the band. Time isnt exactly on their side when it comes to putting out new material if you're going to be THAT unambitious. I do NOT want to wait until about 2012 for another album.

BB King and John Lee Hooker don't jump around on stage and play outside in freezing weather. And lately with the Stones, it's been all about the money, what with the screwing of the fans in the most horrible, money-grubbing way passible.

It's doesn't matter how much energy there is, cold weather is still very bad for them to be playing outside. The Stones are not invincible, as you seem to be implying. Cold weather is bad even for a young person, it's very bad for an old person.
