not your standard "setlist thread" [beacon theater version]
Posted by: HalfNanker ()

what do you think we can expect from the beacon shows. will they play if close to the vest and play only greatest hits for the movie or are we going to get some gems, new to this tour (she was hot, faraway eyes, etc) or brand new (let it Loose, [insert your most desired gem here] etc)??

if buddy guy is truly opening, i am guessing he will come out for a blues number with the band

At tops, you'll get 1-2 surprises. I'm sure it will be the same setlist as recent shows.

It would make business sense to play a few rarities in shows that are being recorded for a DVD release. I hope they keep in the new stuff.

well, theyve been rehearsing for the last couple of days, so hopefully there'll be something fresh. I doubt there'll be much difference in what songs are played between the two shows, however as no doubt they have a good idea already of what songs they want to use

Let It Loose, She Was Hot, Sway, Sweet Virginia, Hand Of Fate, Crazy Mama, Winter

I like big drums. Drum shops generally don't have old stuff. To me, the second-hand stuff is part of the fun of drums. That natural kit that I use-that's an early Gretsch kit with the round logo on it.

I'm sure Scorsese will have some input into what songs he would like them to play. Chuck and Mick will make up the setlist, but with as big a Stones fan that Scorsese is, I'm sure they will oblige him with some of his requests, if they differ from what has already been played on this tour.

I don't think Scorsese is trying to make a movie about the A Bigger Bang tour. We'll get the Rio/Austin dvd for that purpose. I think he wants to capture the essence of the Stones performing live and perhaps include interviews and maybe historical footage into his movie. It just so happens that the shows he is filming are a part of the A Bigger Bang tour, but I don't think he in any way intends his movie to be exclusively representative of what this tour was about.

I said on another thread before, that I expect there could be a few tour debuts at the Beacon and for those seeing shows in November, these newly played songs could make it into those future setlists as well.

since i appear to only be going on tuesday, do you think the shows wil be vastly different or wil they be the same to ensure usable footage of each song?

i could see them going either way. i saw the garden show before the HBO show last tour and it was cleary a dress rehearsl for the televised version, however varying it in this context will give them more variety to chose from.

I just hope if it is different, i get the "better" one!!

or i get in on sunday somehow

Look for Sway, As Tears Go By, She Saw Me Coming, Let It Loose, and Heart Of Stone. The last two I feel the Stones will play because they've been used in Martin's movies multiple times.

Wish: Shine A Light, Loving Cup, Little Queenie, Winter, Connection w/ Keef on vocals, Sister Morphine, I Don't Know Why, Star Star, Learning The Game, All About You; Memphis, Tennesee; Down The Road Apiece, Little Red Rooster, I Want To Be Loved, Citadel, Thru And Thru, Let It Loose.

Believe: Let It Loose, Connection w/ Mick on vocals, Star Star, Learning The Game... Little Red Rooster; Down The Road Apiece?

Sway & Shelter I take "for granted".

Before people stat pickin' on me, I just wanna say I happen
to like them doin' covers live.

But if I just had to make three wishes only; I'd pick Let It Loose, Star @#$%& & Winter!

Since it's the working title of the film, I suspect that they will play Shine a Light. But their "all time greatest song"? Let's not get carried away here.

The thing is that they very often include maybe ONE major surprise, right. But then there will still be about 18 regular warhorses that drag. They have by now offered 10 solid double-takers. If only we could get them all together. In one gig. With Jagger singing them.

"...no longer shall you trudge 'cross my peaceful mind."

They've been rehearsing the last few days??? News to me, but that sounds good. The Atlantic City show will most likely have a few surprises if something new is gonna be tried out.

On Tuesday they rehearsed Mannish Boy, Shattered and I'm Free.
On Wednesday, Shine A Light, Connection, Undercover, As Tears Go By, Some Girls and Fool To Cry. According to folks on Shidoobee who have been listening from outside.

That's great Erik. There will be good treats in the Beacon.
The lazy-slob post was me. I forgot to log off my brother's profile.

Glad there are people with big ears and most grateful that you, Erik,
could hang around Shidobbe board to pick this up. Thank you!
Doesnt sound too crappy... ;-) Some Girls would be a fresh thing too.
I'm deeply deeply satisfied they share my notion of SAL as
a great piece of music that they should bring up... Ok, it was the film title,
but something made it gettin there. Connection - lovely!
Nuthin to complain about Mannish or I'm Free. Shattered aint none of my absolutely favs,
but I'm sure it will work out mighty fine in the US! It
smokes, rocks and gives punky vibes, so... ATGB always good.

I'd expect Keith to sing this one, like in 1995.

By God I hope you are right, Erik.
I reckon this is the only rocker he can do REAL justice today.
I also want to hear him on GS, but I guess I'm almost alone there?

Anything off A Bigger Bang would be a surprise.

IMO, Before They Make Me Run has been brilliant on this tour so far...

That is pretty strange. But that's the studio versions isn't it???

i think we are going to get Buddy Guy coing back out to do a blues number with the band--maybe that is Mannish Boy

what about she was hot? I have been dying to hear this for 20 years and i get the impression it won't be part of these Beacon shows
