Beacon Ticket Contest
Posted by: Neil F ()
Date: October 18, 2006 02:21

Just received an e-mail from Rolling Stones fan club with an offer to win tickets to the Beacon Theatre shows. Not sure if it is for some of the tickets or all of the tickets. No mention of whether legacie's have a better shot. If you join now you can still try to win. You have to pick one date or the other. You also have to write why the Rolling Stones should give you tickets to the show. The terms and conditions do not indicate how many they are giving away.

it's for everyone who is a rs.com member - meaning if you've bought a ticket before. odds are low for all of us.

yes dont panic and renew your membership for a very slim chance for tix, and another $100 btw

I imagine it's going to be a contest for all the tickets. Man that's tough.

people are always going to complain i guess but isn't this a fair way of distributing tickets? all they are saying is that if you have bought a ticket for a show on a bigger bang tour you can enter your name for a lottery for the beacon..

it may be tough but i think its pretty fair..

melillo as usual you're so POSITIVE... maybe you win the contest?? why not? assuming you're a fan (and have seen them on this tour) you got as much chance as the next guy..

I thought the tickets would be dealt with this way.
It makes sense, they know people are dying for a ticket. Now, they don't have to think about thousands of wild calls, letters and ques.
And they can keep it a secret, how many tickets that are actually being given to the common fans...the non-VIP people.

I've got a question, I've bought several tickets for the ABB tour this year, but I'm not a RS.com member. How can the tickets give me access?

Erik, i bought tickets for every UK gig this tour and I received nothing regarding passcodes from RS.com or ticketmaster

anyone else find this to be a strange statement:

"and tell us why we should send you to the Beacon Theatre."

if its just a lottery, why do they care why we should be sent to the beacon theatre? this seems a bit off. maybe more than a lottery?

They wanna save their videos and megabites every way they can, those RScrooks.com -people!
I thought there was a code or something on the ticket....but I can't see it.

is it open to fans worldwide - or just in the US? I love the way they just presume anyone can fly to New York at a weeks notice and grab a hotel room

I guess it's not a lottery but a real contest. Whoever has the best reason why RS.com should give them the tickets will win.

I can't believe they'll have the time to read 80.000. e-mails. I'll bet they'll even get threats and 25-page-essays...people are desperate.

you have to be available if and when they contact you on the 25th to tell you youve won

who in the name of f**k can drop everything at 3-4 days notice to fly to New York? what kind of shite is this?

@#$%& wonderful. This is what you all paid $100 for, folks. For the right to enter a lottery where - like a schoolkid - you have to write an essay (what if English isnt your first language? bet they never thought of that) and then if you win, youre only told about it a few days in advance and have to book the most expensive flights available

Christ on a bike. If these worthless c**ts had brains, theyd be dangerous.

Yeah I just got the same E-Mail. If you bought a ticket for this tour you are automaticly a member of RS.com. If they never sent you an E-Mail with the code then go to there website, go to the log in part, click on forgot password. Then they will ask a couple of questions, like how did you buy tickets and what show did you buy tickets for. Then they will e-mail you in a day or so.
There is no mention whether they will do all the tickets that way. As usual they are short on details. No word on whether air fare or hotel is included.
I think the only reason they ask you to write down why you should win tickets, is just a formality to make you feel good about yourself. I seriously doubt that will be the decisive factor in this. How many different ways can you say you are a diehard fan.
Good luck to all.

No way will airfare/hotel be included. No one would reasonably expect that!

Thanks for that, I'll try.

There's no possibility of RS.com staff reading and shortlisting all submissions.

They'll just randomly pick a few out, check that the message is deemed appropriatly grovelling, and then offer tickets to the lucky winners.

they did the same exact thing for the Robin Hood show at Radio City... they gave away a pair of tixs ... thats it... one pair...

woohoo

and you cant even get on rs.com right now, its slow as s--t, i would imagine about a million people are trying for that one pair of tixs right now...

Re: Beacon Ticket Contest

But I don't get it, how can they do this...NOW?
It takes a few days to get a letter sent to you. And they probably won't send out the ticket the next day after you have wun, either.
I'll be nervous for time, even if I lived in America. I'm sure they don't pick winners that live far away from New York.

Re: Beacon Ticket Contest

they arent going to send out the tickets, you pick them up at the box office and they dont send you a letter they call you, thats how all the other contests worked...

and the shows arent for a few weeks, plenty of time to get airfare...

probably pic the winner totally at random but i would guess its just for US and Canada fans

uh....considering they contact you on the 25th, who the hell is going to pay hundreds of dollars in airfare for a show they probably wont get a shot at tickets for?

If it is, then EVERYONE else with a membership should demand a refund as the membership was advertised on a false pretence. It seems it just excludes Puerto Rico, hAWAII and Alaska though
