Just looked on e-bay and seen a few copies for auction, are they worth getting, one copy is at £62 at the moment.

Got mine 2/3 weeks ago on ebay. But paid much less than that, I think about 20 pounds. Try searching Europe for it, not just UK and you should hit some less expensive auctions...

Only you know if it's worth it to you. I am glad to have seen it, after all the hype, but don't imagine I will sit down and watch it week in week out - aprt, that is, from the bonus bit. Mine has the Motreaux 72 rehearsals on which I had only ever seen on Youtube. Glad I bought it for this alone. Apparntly there is another version out there with lots more extra footage too.

Does anyone know the story behind the Montreaux thing? What was it recorded for, a film or what? And why the astonishingly grumpy band, with the possible exception of Charlie?

If you'll settle for a burned copy, I'll send you one for free. I'll even pay the stamps!

only an utter dickwad would pay that for a DVD-R copy of a film thats easy to track down for free

I wouldnt pay a tenth of that to be perfectly honest.

Broadcast on BBC's "Old Grey Whistle Test" in July 1972. Usually the show consisted of a couple of in-studio performances by bands with new albums out or a few interviews but there would often be concert specials and 'location' style features like this

Great show. Its never been adequately replaced IMO

Thanks Gazza, didn't know it was from OGWT. Mind you, I was still watching Blue Peter not OGWT in 72 winking smiley. Did Tumbling Dice get shown twice do you know?

Agree it was a great show. Was the high point of my week as a teenager growing up in a small village. Also the first programme I watched when my folks got colour TV! I remember them showing the Stones doing Street Fighting Man onstage with a knackered-but-still-going-for-it performance from Jagger ('73?), but have never come across that particular clip since (unless the old memory is playing tricks). Anybody seen it?

Street Fighting Man from Festhalle, Frankfurt, 09/30 was sent on TV.
Also parts of SFM from Minich two days earlier.
Most probably you saw the Frankfurt version. Great performance, the sax/trumbone sounds like wild elephants on this version.

JUst got the new Greenfield Exile book yesterday, so I'm going crazy for anything '72.

I've got CSB on VHS, but it's a 12 year-old copy that's worse for wear (having been played countless times).
Anyone willing to trade a DVD burn for something?

I would put this on Hot Stuff, but since there was already a CSB thread over here, I thought I'd jump in.

yes. What is on the DVD (26 minutes or so) was what was broadcast

Incidentally, I was 9 when that show was broadcast, so its not like I stayed up late to watch it either....

The Frankfurt clip of SF Man was shown in October 1973, immediately after an interview (in the BBC studios) with a magnificently Afro-ed Billy Preston.

The BBC dug that Frankfurt clip out of mothballs again in spring 1985 when they showed a Whistle Test one hour Jagger special to coincide with the release of "She's The Boss"

That Street Fighting Man performance must have looked very pale compared to the She's The Boss material.

LOL....actually as much as I love the '73 tour, I happen to think that Mick's singing on that particular version of SF Man is absolutely appalling.

Agreed - but the band itself was absolutely pumping so the vocals actually were secondary at this stage of the show....

Didn't keith used to turn his guitar amp to full power during SFM ??

That's the one to get for sure. I have two versions and BIG CS Blues is the best by far. The menu is great to look at. It's very well done. The extras are good too. It might as well could've been an official release, if it weren't for the pedestrian result that the movie turned out to be.
