CHICAGO, Oct. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- The Cheetah Girls, the all-girl singing group based on the popular young adult book series and Disney Channel movie, have sold more concert tickets on the secondary market than legendary musicians the Rolling Stones and Barbra Streisand, according to the TicketsNow Entertainment Index for September.

The Monkees sold more 45s and LPs in 1967 than the Stones and the Beatles combined. The Bay City Rollers were huge in the mid-70's. Its just passing fashion. Pay it no mind.

So they outsell them on the worst leg of their tour. Let's see at the end of their careers and see the tour grosses and record sales. I wonder why the publisher of this article would even think it is a story?

In any given time period they can be outdone by average artists but over the long hall very few artists are better.

I have to tell you all a great story. My eight year old daughter loves the CG. I had it in my to do pile to get them tickets for a show here in Syracuse, NY. By chance I checked Ticketmaster one day. It said that pre-sale for Syracuse would start at 10 Am on 8/15/06. It was at that time 9:10 AM on 8/15/06. I thought, wow what a great coincidence. So I read further and it says that pre-sale is only for those who have the code from the CG CD that must be purchased at Target. Target was at least 20 minutes from where I work, but I gave it a shot. I drove (rather quickly) to Target, found the CD, drove (even quicker) back to work and was in front of my computer at 9:56 AM. I got my daughter and wife front row for ther show in Syracuse October 28th. My daughter likes CG bette than RS, but she has never seen them live. Her and I have gone to see Hillary Duff a few times - I have to tell you HD can rock and reminds me alot more of MJ than Britney. Also from a parent standpoint - Hillary Duff is about the music not the dance stuff, and she portrays a better image than most of the young girls orianted singers (great singer,ripped jeans, loud guitars and a kick ass rythem section as appose to peirced dancers). Sorry so long but I thought you would enjoy the story. BTW - couldn't compair to 17th row for VDL tour at the Dome.

If they consider concerts the secondary market, for the Stones it's actually their primary market... so those girls outsold them even more

Who are the Cheetah Girls?

Not really a band - kind of like the Monkeys - without talent, thay may be been compressed, echoed........ - but with Disney behind them. Hell - Mick Taylor could be successful with Disney behind him - sorry - easy jab.

I was watching the Disney Channel with my eight-year old recently, and a couple of teenage girls were doing a version of Iggy Pop's Real Wild Child. I thought it was pretty cool. BTW, the eight-year old saw her first live show -- Stones at Twickenham on 8/20 -- and absolutely loved it. It helped that they sang two songs she knew (Satisfaction and *shock* Ruby Tuesday, which she has seen on my Ed Sullivan DVD).

Guys- The Cheetha Girls are selling out the Rolling Stones in the Secondary Market, thats a fact, but you have too consider several things.


Yes this leg of the stones is selling poor however the stones are Playing in Stadiums, not Amphitheatres. So the Cheetha Girls are selling better in the Secondard market. There are less tickets for sale, so this would be the case. The Secondary maket is Ebay, Ticketsnow, and all thoes other sites. This is not even news or worth reporting you cant copare the two.

Is that what they refer to as the secondary market?
If it is, then the statistics is really worth nothing

yes thats the Secondarty Market, ticket brokers and Scalpers are Secondary and Primary market is through the Box Office/Ticketmaster

Well they are cuter than the Stones!

Oversaturation..just simple economics....the kids buy records and go to concerts..even if the tickets are way cheaper....it adds up after a while....

"Statistics" which are refering to a particular month is just a rediculous "figure". Simple as that. They remind me of some meaningless football (soccer) "statistics". Like "best teams of the week". During a particular week, maybe my favourite team, Olympiakos (Greece) wins playing on Champion's Leage and on Greek Leage too. Maybe on this week Barcelona and Arsenal (i love both of them!) are not winning on Champion's Leage and on their Leages. That supposely means for an week Olympiakos is better than Barcelona and Arsenal! Just rediculous...

Also, this is a "September's TicketsNow Entertainment Index". What the hell does
mean "September sales" as for the Rolling Stones, who started their tour on September 20 ?? Can anyone explain it??

This leg of the tour will attract 800,000 people- something like 2.3 millions totally in the USA. And we draw stupid comparisons to The Cheetah Girls based on a |"September" Index. Sometimes i feel Jack Knife's rage, here!!

I agree a 100 %, this is ridiculous. From my own perspective, worldwide and from my own private boxoffice , Bach outsold The Cheetah Girls in September.

Very interesting. You are talking about ticket sales in USA September 2006? Where the Stones started their tour Sep. 20 and performed 4 shows? Statistics may be used any way you like. Just twist the numbers and dates around and you may have any performer on the no. 1 spot. Like if you take Sept 21, 22, 24, 25, 26, 28, 30, any of these dates every single artist in USA performed in front of more people than the Stones. Why? Because the Stones did only perform on Sepo. 20, 23, 27, 29.

Oh come on, I want to play the pizza delivery guy who walks in when CindyC is trying to get you into bed and says "Hey, what's going on here. Did anyone order a large sausage? And where is that bad jazz fusion music coming from?"

Cheetah Girls is a TV show band for Disney corp. A teenage girl "Monkees" perhaps. My kids love 'em, but they also love the Stones too. Gotta have diversity I guess...

I bet quite alot of zoo's around the globe sell more tickets than the stones any day.
also British Rail, Lufthansa and parking tickets.

now don't tell me it has nothing to do with the Stones - well, ok it doesn't.
but same with the Cheetah Girls.

They're a band for kids...kinda like the Jackson 5....
