Stones shoudl consider cancelling Soldier Field for two at United Center...

I hate to be a weather wimp but the weather forecast for the the Chicago show on Wednesday is 35 degrees fahrenheit, 30 miles per hour winds, and showers likely...truly horrible conditions for the band and the audience in outdoor Soldier Field.

I hope the Stones consider cancelling the show at Soldier Field and doing two at United Center which is open for four of the nights the Stones have off before their next show in Seattle.

Redistributing tickets could follow the seating from each venue. For example, people with tickets for sections 104 or 143 at Soldier Field could have section 120 and 114, respectively, at United Center. Two shows would probably sell a few more tickets, too (I know a lot of people who haven't bought tickets for Soldier Field because they didn't want to chance the weather).

I imagine they could rush the indoor stage here, they've played United center many times in the past, and I can't imagine that playing two comfortable indoor shows would be worse than playing in such bad outdoor conditions, especially when one considers how Mick should be watching his voice.

It's a long shot at best, but an idea I hope they examine thoroughly.

Not a great idea. Many people have set up schedules around this show and to change venues at this point would cause some serious repercussions. Besides, when did the weathergoons become all-knowing?

New weather update says rain off and on until 5p.m. then feels like 40 outside. As long as the rain stops will be as I predicted. They're dumb for doing Soldier Field in October. If they're dumb enough to pick that venue, they'd better play it no matter what!

The weather is changing for the worse as we speak. Wind has shifted to the North and West. Not a good sign, given what's coming from that direction. I am still waiting to get a good seat at the right price, cuz the weather is gonna get some people to bail. I'm in,but at my price. I've done Bears games in much worse and had a ball.

Soldier Field - Home of the Monsters of the Midway the mighty Chicago Bears!! 5-0 and quite possibly will be 10-0 with their favorable schedule.
Bears have always been my favorite NFL team, although living near Vancouver there are many Seattle Seahawks fans.

I'm sure Cohl and company took weather into consideration when booking the current tour.

Scheduling Soldier Field in the middle of October is a questionable move by the Stones, a crap shoot as far as the weather goes as it can be quite nasty at this time of year. They scheduled it, they should play it...

Chicago in mid-October, What do you expect? Now, Seattle and Vancouver are covered stadiums correct?

In fairness (?) to Mr. Cohl, tomorrow is likely going to be record cold, 27 degrees below the normal temp. Still, is playing in this risky for the band?

That's a good point. We think of our boys as immortal, but would you send a 65-year old dude out in the rain while it's 35 degrees fahrenheit outside? Wouldn't you be concerned that he'd catch pneumonia?

This is not happening, The Stones would lose Tons of Money, they would not get there money back from the Venue, once you make a depoist on a Venue like soilder field forget about it. We are talking 70-100,000 dollars to rent a venue like that...Moving Venues would cost them more money, ticket sales have been up for the last two weeks, so thats a really good sign!!! moving venues, not going to happen.

Yes, because the songs says "I wish you all the best, I hope we meet again
On a cold Chicago night" !

A little American History.....

William Henry Harrison (Ninth U.S. President) - WHH held office for the shortest period of time, something like 30 days. He was 68 years old when he was sworn in on a cold and rainy day on which he gave a 2 hour inauguration speech. He caught a cold, which developed into pneumonia and died, as previously mentioned, 30 days into office.

Certainly let's not forget about Charlie's recent health concerns as well.

As in Louisville, Charlie will be "dry, but not high" - he and his drums are shielded from the rain.

Let The Stones play their last Solder Field. Nice reward for an up-to-now faithfull audience. I think both are accustomed to rough weather.

With all due respect to the people who write and re-write the William Henry Harrison myth, MEDICALLY AND SCIENTIFICALLY both a cold and pneumonia are caused by pathogens...VIRUSES AND BACTERIA... President Harrison died because while he stood there in the cold for two hours he was exposed to an air born infective agent.

The myth appears immortal because cold and flu season is traditionally in the colder months of the year in the "developed nations." But the reality is that theose times of years are when people huddle together in doors in closed quarters with less ventalation, breathing in each other's exhalations; the perfect mileau for a virus to spread.

Anyone ever wonder why the Inuit and Eskimos are alive? Anyone wonder why the common cold has not killed out the population of Saint Petersburg Russia in January's freezing almost lightless days? If being exposed to cold weather made you sick, Vale , Colorado would be a ghost town and not an overpriced winter wonderland for the rich and fanmous. Skiing and sledding would be obsolete.

It would be crazy to cancel the show tomorrow unless lightning was an issue. I am bringing my winter coat and gloves. Perhaps some warming spirits beforehand. Looks like a whisky day tomorrow for health purposes. The Stones by my past experience tend to play big when the weather sucks. The faithful will be there so screw the weather...

Hi Drbryant. Vancouver is a dome but Seattle is open air at Qwest where they're playing. Safeco Field where the Mariner's play is a retractable roof.

They have barely sold enough tickets to play one show at the United centre. Huge sections of the stadium have been covered in blacks with the Stones logo on. Same for Seattle and El Paso.
