Nooooooo! My Telecaster!!

It's broke! See, I plug it in the amp, and it don't make any sound, right? It's not the amp or the cord, cause my other guitar works just fine. Now, I being very knowledgeable (at least, I pretend), figured it may be the little hole you stick the plug in, you know? I had another guitar where one of the wires came loose, and all I had to do was sauter it back. BUT, I unscrew the little faceplate off, and my eyes were not prepared for the complexity of what my Telecaster displayed. It had, like, another little hole or something, and I couldn't see the wires.

As you can see, I've already confused my self, and reading a lot of the guitar topics here, a lot of you are complete geniuses with IQ's of 300 when it comes to guitars. When I plug it in, I get this horrible, really loud buzzing, but no "sound". Does my diagnosis of a broken wire sound right? How the hell do I get in there to see? My other guitar, you just took the little plate off and there they were. See? I'm confused now!

Oh, and to keep this on topic, someone quickly post a picture of Keef playing a white Telecaster with maple neck (which is what I got). I know he's got one, I seen a picture of him with one in Bill's big book, I believe.

If it's just a wire that ripped off the plugger (Where you put your jack stick in) it's very cheap to get done. It happens to lots of people. 3 times for me so far.

Sounds like a wiring porblem in your input jack. ZLike Kent says it's no big deal for someone who knows what to look for. very minor but loud noise too LOL

There are no great miracles happening inside a Telecaster - just have a closer look.

Take it to the tech! It's only a few Euros, and your Telecaster is definitely worth a lot more. Don't mess around inside your tele, thats as silly as trying to perform brainsurgery on yourself...

LOL - Rewiring a Telecaster is not really that difficult.

Time to buid a Faraday cage to avoid buzz when you come close to electronic equipment (including monitors) !

Just bought a Squire Tele yesterday - rigged like Keith's with a humbucker pickup in the neck position. Looks and sounds great. First one I've seen from the factory like this.

Pickup selection goes like this:

Bridge position = Classic Tele twang - "Folsom Prison Blues"
Neck position = Les Paul crunch - "All The Day and All of The Night"
Middle positoin = Keith - "Start Me Up"

Looks like the busted wire is the guilty culprate...

Keith lets his guitar techs cut up those nice vintage Teles to place the humbucker in there. For most of the rest of us, just get a Squire (made by Fender) instead of butchering a Fender Tele. Save a few $$$.

So, nobody digs my cool, Keith-like guitar? Wait until you're paying $350 a seat to see Elmo.

I like it. Looks very cool. And the few times I've tried such a guitar it always had this nice twang to it.
