Baboon Bro is a good man, but I have to joke with him from time to time. And I always like that he mention Trondheim as a suggestion to a concertplace for Stones. Infact, if every piece in a puzzle had fit, we had meet eachother last weekend over a beer and a laphroaig. I vote for a concert with Stones in Sundsvall.

LOL

This thread should be called "Scandinavia Tour 2007".

I guess I will travel to one of your countries to see the Stones, to Stonesland.

How many STADIUM shows in Europe are possible? More than 30 - as bv seems to believe - is unlikely I think, unless they drop ticket prices (which is even more unlikely).

I'm gonna try to count how many stadium shows are REALLY likely:

- Germany 3: one in the South or West (Frankfurt, Ruhr area?), one in the North (Hamburg?), one in the East (Dresden?)

- Netherlands 2: Rotterdam twice or Rotterdam once and one East NL town. I don't think another Amsterdam arena show will happen after this years disaster (bad press, not sold out...).

- Belgium 1: Brussels (or Werchter)

- Spain 4: as scheduled for 06

- France 2: Paris and maybe an untouched big town in the West part (Bordeaux?)

- Poland 1: Warsaw

- Czech Republic 1: Brno

- Hungary 1: Budapest

- Russia 1: St. Petersburg

- Sweden 1: Gothenburg

- Rest of scandinavia 1: (Trondheim, Oslo?)

- Croatia 1: Zagreb

- Serbia 1: Belgrade

- Greece 1: Athens

So, these 21 possible shows are realistic, maybe two or three of them will not happen and other regions be touched instead (e.g. South Italy, West part of Austria like Imst in 99). Maybe it will be even become 23.

But anyway, I think is has become clear that 30 or even 35 stadium/ big field shows are more than unrealistic if they ticket prices are as high as this year (for this I have no doubt). With other words: if there are really around 40 shows planned, almost every second of them will be in mainly 8.000-15.000 capacy arenas.

well youve missed the British Isles entirely

Its pretty much common knowledge the Stones plan to play Wembley Stadium next summer.

They also might play Dublin. After all, they were supposed to play a large outdoor show there in August but itw as only cancelled due to a contractual dispute betwen rival promoters before any tickets went on sale.

However, I agree that to try and sell much more than 20 stadiums is pushing their luck and that mixing the itinerary up with as many shows in smaller venues makes more sense

Shit, I bloody forgot the British Isles, indeed. But ca. 20 big European plus 2-3 more British/ Irish shows (London, perhaps one more England town- Bristol? -, Dublin or Belfast) is still far away from 35 or so.

I think they might do 4 or 5 in the UK again...Wembley and a couple of other different places. Hope so anyway.

they could conceivably do 4 or 5 UK shows again - but not 4 or 5 stadiums shows. Not at those prices.

What is the prize for FOS tickets for Stones on Wembley Stadium??? Or what would be your guess???

In my English class we have to go on a study tour some time next year. It will probably be in England. But if the dates doesn't allign with the Stones' concert, I will get a sudden serious case of laryngitis and can't go. I wanna see the Stones in England. That's dream #2 after they played in my home town.

I don't know Gazza. Some areas were quite remote from all this year's venues [in UK terms] and a lot of folks won't travel. Give 'em a gig nearer home and they'll turn up.

Re: Europe 2007 - 40 shows

FOS this time was a very reasonable £60 - if you were lucky enough to get one of the allocation at that price in the first ten rows

However, most tickets in the FOS area and even some tiered seating tickets were £150. the next most expensive were £90, with a smaller number of tickets priced at £60 and £40.

I'd expect to see the Stones in London around the same time as they played there this year - ie mid/late August, at the end of the tour. They seem to want to end the tour there (and you know what THAT could mean if rumours are true) and if they schedule the show for early in the tour, its cutting it fine again as the stadium may not be ready.

I'd expect ticket prices to be around the same as this year.

The Rolling Stones could easily play 100 shows in Europe next summer if they had time for it, and the ticket prices are right, but the problem is they don't have time for it. Just for the Nordic countries they could easily play these:

- Ullevål Stadium 25,000
- Lerkendal 25,000
- Stockholm Stadium 30,000
- Ullevi 50,000
- Parken 50,000
- Herning 60,000
- Helsinki 50,000

This is 7 shows in a small area of 20 million people only.

Then for UK & Ireland Manchester, Bristol, Newcastle, Southampton, Dublin, Belfast, Wembley stadium x 2. Total of 8 shows.

Then 6 shows in Spain & Portugal.

Then Iceland.

Then 6 shows in Germany with high ticket prices, or 15 shows with lower prices. But they don't have time for many shows so they do 5-6 shows with high prices.

Then Russia, Croatia, Czech Rep, Poland, Serbia, Belgium, 2 x Rotterdam, Ukrain, Greece, Italy, Hungary, and so on.

It is not a matter of if it is possible but rather where they choose to go. Just in my country, one of the smallest ones in Europe, with only 4.5 million people, they could play Kristiansand, Stavanger, Bergen, Drammen, Oslo, Trondheim, Tromsø, not every city at the same time but easily 2-3 of them full house. Don't under-estimate this band.

It's been talk around Lerkendal, Trondheim the two last tours now.
I hope that will be for real some time. It's 2 hours by car from my town.

Bergen was just great, so why not in Trondheim...

I guess there'll be a press conference about a new tour in november/december, and I'm very excited about any Scandinavian dates...

Why?

Re: Europe 2007 - 40 shows

I dont care for stadium shows to begin with and I dont particularly want to go to Croke Park anyway. Phoenix Park isnt a stadium but a public park, so it will be a field show. Neither venue appeals to me. If there are arena shows next year, the only outdoor venue I particularly want to see the band in is Wembley. Otherwise, I'd prefer indoor gigs. I only went to see them in stadiums this year because the alternative was not seeing them at all.

Although if the tour closer happens to be in a stadium outside London, I'd probably want to be there as I think it could be their last concert.

Assumption is the Mother of every fu**-up!
Facts, please. Not theories. Why don't you all speak with the promotors who usually books the Stones in your respective countries, and then share whatever you find out with the rest of us?! That's a much better idea than shere speculations.

I'm pretty sure the city won't come up with that much money. That's been the problem both on Forty Licks and A Bigger Bang. They're short of 14 million NKR or something.
But I'm not gonna make a bet.

But I sure hope from all of my heart that there'll be a Trondheim show next year.
