chaos-show from 1981
Posted by: TV81 ()

hey folks,

what is the worst show from 1981, in your opinion?
I mean not the sound quality, I mean the playing quality.
Where did they do the most mistakes?

my suggestions:
1) philly 25.9.1981 -- many many many "dooooooohs"
2) jersey devil cd1 "time is on my side" -- keith learning to play a new song...

Why would you want to know that?!

Both of the Philly-shows are horrible. Everybody's wasted, and the performances are sloppy as hell.

The second Philly show wasn't terrible. They were horrible in the first Philly show. Actually a pretty remarkable turnaround the next day.

I have the second show, and compared to other 81-shows it was (at least) below standards smiling smiley

because it's funny to hear how they play and learn "alternative" and new versions of their songs?
i think the first philly-show is one of the worst, the intro from satisfaction is horrible tongue sticking out smiley
but the "anyway, I've got no voice, but I try"-version of before they make me run on the atlantic-city bonus-cd is also awful!
i've heard some realy bad versions of songs, where you could only ask: "what the f*** are they doing there?" but they were distributed on many shows from many years. so i don't really have a "favourite" worst show

I believe the first show in Philly is on DVD....or at least that's what I'm led to believe...can anyone confirm this? It's a comp DVD refered to as the D-Stone video (D-Stone being the person or company that put it together). I have a copy and watch it often. MANY MANY mistakes can be seen and heard in the footage. A highlight is seeing Keith SCREAMING at someone just off stage during "Let's Spend The Night Together" arms flailing and all. As I watch it to this day I still cringe when the mistakes are made. Oh....and the video cuts off before Tops and Mona are played. Then again I could be viewing the second Philly show.....someone please confirm. Check out www.rockpassion.com - this is who I bought my copy from. Another link - [rockpassion.com]

I love this DVD, so many great clips. I wonder where the complete shows are. The only thing that pisses me off about these dvds is that its just the first few songs from each show. I wish they were clips from different parts of each show. How funny is it at the Philly show to see all the stuff being thrown at the Stones when they are playing.

jope, i will upload in a few minutes...

anyway, it's right that genious and madness are very close. because the tempe-show is one of their best ever, but a few songs, like "let it bleed" or "brown sugar", it seems that they are not sure, what they have to do...

I second to that, absolutely amazing. The mistakes and the sloppiness are exactly WHY I love these shows...

smile: as in he's going to change strings in the middle of the number?
he's pretty clearly talking to the sound techs because he can't hear himself.

by the way, which of the Jersey shows is this one from?
i freakin love Time Is On My Side from 81 - can't get enough :E
