Hi

A friend says there is a video of the Stones around 1970 or 1971 and there is a different drummer ........... I have not got any idea what he is talking
about.

Is there a concert of the Stones around 1970 (Mick Taylor era) where there
is a different drummer ........ and who is it and where was Charlie ?

.

Not in concert - Jimmy Miller on a couple of studio tracks.

That looks like a promo pic of Mick Taylor playing with Charlie's drums where they are filming the It's Only Rock'n'Roll video.

.

He said it's a concert Mick Taylor is in the band they play a few songs
(I don't know how many I got the impression it was 40 or more minutes)
a smaller venue (not an arena) there is an audience but the drummer is not Charlie Watts and wondered who it was.

maybe he is mistaken ........I just assumed Charlie was sick that night
....... I better ask for more details or a look before I end up with
egg on my face ...... unlike some people we don't collect everything !!

I think your friend's memory has played him a trick. He might be talking of the New Barbarians... They had some really nice Stones-members, some really nice non-members and Charlie didn't play drums...

Not in 70/71, but in 1986, when Stones played memorial show for Ian Stewart Charlie was late and Simon Kirke replaced him for 5 songs.

maybe he means that thing during the 75 tour, when billy preston played his songs, charlie went to the percussion kit and another drummer played for him for 2 or 3 songs.this was no replacement, just a guest.
the other time i knew, was when charlie came to late on Stu`s memorial concert.Simon Kirke played the first 5 songs.

didnt happen in 1970-71....only ever at the Stu memorial gig in 86 when Charlie arrived late due to traffic and Simon Kirke played the first few songs, as Franz correctly states above

I thought Charlie had missed one gig in the 60's in America, possibly the second US tour, if memory serves me right, I am not sure of the reason. I think I remember reading about it years ago.

Charlie Watts was absent from a Rolling Stones concert in Chatham, Kent in 1964. The reason being because he was late returning from a holiday.

.
He said the guitar player is Mick Taylor so it's between 1969-1973
(I will ask for a screen snapshot from it this weekend)

What happened to the experts who know all these things ....... are they sleeping ?

If Charlie keeps showing up late every 22 years were gonna have to get rid of him..........................

Mick T never played drums publicly w/ the Stones...They did have a percussionist as well as Charlie in '75-76, as mentioned (Ollie Brown) who I beleive was last know to be heading Brown Sugar Realtors.

He said there is a drummer the stage lighting is a little dark around the drums but if you look close it's not Charlie
..... this guy is a drummer so he always looks at them ...... sad but true ;-)

I still don't have the screen shots as soon as I do I will post them
I suspect it's either his poor failing eyes letting him down or it's Jim Keltner sitting in.

drake, the Stu memorial really happened. No boot or video has ever escaped though.

While some good points have been made, this spotting was most likely a mistake.
