There's a great passage in the book that tells the story of Keith looking at a Van Morrison album, announcing that it's "crap!" and then throwing it out the window!
I dont think its an odd choice. whats odd about it? any who, I would like to go to that show, im in the bay area, but I dont know if Im gunna be able to do it. $$$$$$$$$
if you use an AMEX card you can get tickets starting yesterday at 9 if you don't have one find a friend who does I got $99 seats on side but close to stage just after 9 yesterday. (my plan was that it was either that or wait until the day of the show)
Odd it is indeed my dear mcparty but perhaps no odder than the Blacked Eyes Peas or some of the other bands that have opened for them. Better Van the Man than the former!
What a great show!! Not only the world's best band, but another rock legend in Van Morrison. He can play a full set and still be off stage before the boys are ready to take the stage. I just saw him in Fairfax, VA two weeks ago... it was a killer show, but no encore. For those who have tickets, it will be an unbelievable experience!!
As I said before I only fear that Van will be treated like the usual opening band, i.e. too loud, too muddy. Moreover, I'm not sure if a majority of Stones fans will appreciate Van Morrison. Therefore I am not sure if it will turn out as great as a Van concert on his own.
Van will be treated like the second coming of the Messiah! Most Stones fans can understand and appreciate the significanceof Van the Man, especially the older and wiser ones in the crowd.
This is a superb choice, and I can only hope he opens up in Vegas, and LA as well.
And thank goodness the Stones dropped Streets Of Love from the UK set-list, We can all breathe a sigh of relief.
I guess my original point of this thread was the irony.
The 1971 Keith throwing a Van Morrison album out of a second story window and announcing that it's "crap!". Now he'll be backstage sharing a Stoli/OJ with Van-the-Man.
I've seen Morrison a couple times. He always has an awesome band with him.
