new set list this fall??
Posted by: forestones ()

What is the chance there we be an updated set list this fall? I have seen 20 Stones shows, 6 on this tour and really would like some new sets...the tickets, as we all know, are expensive. At what point is it too much to spend for each show to be very similar to the last one..and the next one...

Most people only attend one show. We're unique. So who knows. I'm willing to bet they'll change things up a little bit this fall. I just cant see the Stones going back to Soldier Field and doing virtually the same setlist.

Maybe we should all drop the names of songs that we would like to hear this time around, in the hope that some ideas will make their way to the Stones camp. For me, I'd love to hear some songs that haven't been played in a while, like:
- It's All Over Now
- Street Fighting Man
- She's a Rainbow

A couple of rarely played songs, like:
- One Hit (to the Body)
- Loving Cup

A few songs that never really got its day in the sun, like:
- Mother's Little Helper
- Out of Time
- Soul Survivor
- Let It Loose
- We Love You
- Winter

And a few different tracks from A Bigger Bang, so that Rough Justice and Oh No Not You Again can finally ease into retirement. For starters:
- Let Me Down Slow
- She Saw Me Coming
- Laugh, I Nearly Died
- Streets of Love (for the U.S. audiences)

Nice list, monkeylad. I'll add:

Have You Seen Your Mother, Baby, Standing In The Shadow?
Hang Fire

And Keith should try some new tunes, particularly:

Coming Down Again

& maybe:

Sleep Tonight

They need to play 'Slave', a great groove they could easily pull off.

I doubt they will change it up much which is why fan club members are not biting on the $350-$450 tickets for the stadiums this time. The Stones are going to have a rough ride saleswise unfortunately but I guess it is their own doing. I'll still go to 6-8 but am watching what I buy. Should have been arenas but it's not my business.

Hang Fire would be sweet. Bring back Love is Strong and Out of Control. Drop Honky Tonk Women and Midnight Rambler.

Having seen the concert at Stuttgart where they played only a greatest-hits-show at a very fast pace I doubt if they will change setlists very much. At the start of each leg of the ABB tour they promised that they would play some new songs but then you get the warhorses set. That's the annoying thing about it all.
Obviously they are so concerned about filling the stadiums at those exorbitant ticket prices that they do not want to risk anything. I doubt if the audience would be disappointed if they'd play Mothers little helper, Lady Jane or Heart of stone, for instance. But they do.

Same set list. May be 2-3 changes. They don't have any time for reheasring new songs. And most places are new for them.

When they return to Boston, NY, Chicago, LA, SF (Oakland), Seattle, Las Vegas, etc, they will probably play a few songs they didn't play there last time. But not necessarily new songs for the tour.

Drop Midnight Rambler??? MR is the best live song by any rock'n'roll band ever!

I don't expect many changes. Maybe they will change opener to Brown Sugar, maybe they replace Streets of Love with Biggest Mistake. Keith will probably change at least one of his songs and that will be it. They may also change running order a bit but I guess there is no chance for a completely new setlist.

A great dream! Hope waking up wont be a very cold experience. I hope you'll get at least Monkey Man and It Won't Take Long. I have one little advice: I think Streets Of Love, the way they perform it, should be played on the main stage, and on the main stage only. I suggest a change with She Saw Me Coming.

Hope you'll have a great show, one way or the other.

Not that easily - have you watched the Four Flicks-DVD when they tried it?

Pretty sad that its thought of as a "dream" for us to get a new set list. But its the sad truth. For a band with as many well known hits as they have and for a band that tours as frequently as they do its pretty shitty to play the same songs all the time.

I guess this is why so many fans are passing on shows in the US this fall, me included. First time I am missing a tour.

They don't will do rare or undone numbers at the stadium shows, because Mick's afraid of the audiences engery level. He wants to keep ´the level high and with rare numbers that would be difficult in his oppinion.

Keep on rollin'

Eight different songs? Those songs(except SOL and Sway)were all played at the Chicago United Center.Mostly in January 2006,Slipping Away and Before They Make Me Run in 2003.

In the announcement of the fall tour,Jagger says that there will be plenty of time for rehearsals to make the set list fresh. They know there is a problem. They say the right things but, their actions go against what they always say.

I don't think so either but, lately they have become more likely to repeat themselves.Tokyo Dome #2 (2006) was almost all the same songs as the Tokyo Dome 2003 shows.

And Fenway they did two shows and only changed one song. And to add to that when they did Boston in 2002 it was pretty much the same set besides the 3 or 4 new songs. In the past they were usually good about making sure they didn't repeat songs from tour to tour, not anymore. Look at the differences from 75 to 78 and then to 81. Every tour they changed it up quite a bit the next time they came around.

I think the only realistic hope we have is that they'll trade in SOL for a different song from ABB. I'd be surprised if there are any changes other than that. I just hope they continue playing She's So Cold on the B stage like they did recently. At least in Louisville they'll likely play Dead Flowers (because it has a Kentucky Derby reference), which will be cool.

I'm sure Biggest Mistake will be played sooner or later as it's last single from ABB. Maybe even at one of Europe 2006 gigs.

But see, you're using logic to make that assumption. Nothing about the way the Stones have marketed A Bigger Bang has been remotely logical.

dropping midnight rambler would be sheer idiocy...

and i for one DO NOT want to hear mothers little helper or out of time or most of those 60s pop songs..

give me the rock and roll..

the way they are doing it is just fine with me.... i just hope they do not add streets of love...

if they could find it in their hearts to play a chuck berry cover in atlantic city i would be ecstatic but i don't see it happening

sway would be nice too...
