No one could replace them, not in 2006 at least. Perhaps in 1976 or so.

Yes, they should quit. If Charlie leaves that would be too much.

No, I didn't mean that at all,
I meant...that when they were younger, and still had a career ahead, it would have made sense to try with a different guitarist or drummer.
Now, the Rolling Stones are so BIG, because it's those 4 guys still delivering the show. New blood wouldn't be welcomed.
I love the 78 tour...and 76 is good too.

If Charlie quits I don't think they should go on without him. But I bet they would, probably replacing him with Jim Keltner or Kenney Jones. I hope Ronnie stays in the band but gets demoted to rhythm guitarist and they get a lead guitarist who is still in top form such as Mick Taylor or Waddy Watchell.

How about the guitar player from SLAYER and the drummer from the Cantina Band in STAR WARS...

they CANT be replaced. There would undoubtedly still be Stones shows BUT these men would not have beed replaced. They would have retired and some competent player would be playing those parts for M & K.

this is a non sense topic
no stones without charlie ! and i do not want !!
time is over for a change, the band plays in 2007 or will stop, that's all.
Ronnie is elsewhere for a certain time now and was not replaced anyway. Mick could have been bored by his lack of profesionalism but he never made a comment about it and kept Woody in the band (imagine that the guy was not in the studio to record BB !!! amazing).

NO CHARLIE on the kit NO STONES,it worked for the Who not the from STONES.They barely recovered from losing Bill.In the beginning no one cared that Bill was gone, then I see people complaining about Darryl. No chance without Charlie ,it wouldn't be right!!!!!!

unfortunately it's a realistic question. however, noone has to replace charlie on recording, and he still *might* do some scaled back canada/europe/US dates perhaps? keltner, steve jerdan possibilities. they could keep ronnie but they would have to add an extra lead guitarist for the road. i don't think waddy would work...

Agree! I still haven't heard an official statement saying "this is it". Untill then - this is totally un-interresting.

I totally agree with you. I've said it before, they should ask Waddy Wachtel to join them on stage. Ron can do Jagger's guitar parts. Let Waddy do the solos and backing vocals. We don't need Blondie anymore.

Perhaps they should just form the "Everly Brothers 2"- as Keith thought they'd be forced to when Charlie had throath cancer... And of course they'd only do the set lists that would appeal to the hard core nut cases exclusively. And only club shows. And the tix woud be 5 pounds sterling. And everyone would have front row seating and brilliant sound, AND a stadium stage. And Mick would use a hose to water the old folks... If it makes you happy?

Who replace Mick ?

this guy could be the answer to all their problems-
he'd be cheap, as well.

alternatively, get Blondie to double up on drums/guitar

Well I think they should give up the brand "Rolling Stones" then and go on with two different bands: 1) The Winos with special guest Mick jagger on vocals. And the Wandering Spirit line up with special guest Keith Richards on guitar....How is that?
