Waiting For Your Blonde Hair To Turn Grey

Anyone ever notice that a lot of musicians in their 50s and 60s still have the same hair they had 30 years ago? Off the top of my head there's:

Mick Jagger
Ron Wood
Paul McCartney
Ringo Starr
Roger Daltrey
Robert Plant
Jimmy Page
John Paul Jones
Eric Clapton
David Bowie
Steven Tyler
Joe Perry
David Johannsen
Iggy Pop
Lou Reed
Bono
John Fogerty

And probably some others I'm missing. What do you think ... is it good genetics, good hairstylists, neither, both?

(This thread deidcated to the beloved hair implants thread. Maverick, RIP.)

oh NO not this AGAIN...

Off the top of your head?!? LOL.

Well, a friend of mine goes to a trichologist place that apparently counts Mick among its clients.

It's all about GOOD HAIR DRESSERS! Only their hair dressers know for sure!

My blonde is already grey. Coloring -- my hair used to be blonde, but it's now a mix of grey/white that won't hold that fake blonde shit. I've been told that it looks good on me, and when I look in the mirror, I don't get a feeling of shock -- frankly, I think I'm aging well.

Why are we baby-boomers so hung up on this? I think it's funny. We all get old. I prefer that alternative to dying young, eh?

I'm over 55 years and I have still my brown color.

Some turn grey at 25, others never or extremely late.

I've seen friends doing a bad dye job to their hair - and you could say: Waiting For Your Blonde Hair To Turn Green

I would be shocked if any of those that you mentioned didn't dye their hair. It would be way too much of a coincidence for all of those famous people to still have their original hair color.

what a coincidence that your handle happens to include your age!!!!!

...throw Dylan into that too - he's 65.

Honestly - and I'm sure many/most disagree - I think it's completely ridiculous that rock stars feel they must dye their hair. Charlie's the coolest looking Stone, imo, for instance. Gray hair demonstrates wisdom, duration and all kinds of other POSITIVES. Eric Burdon finally "let it go" just last year and I think he looks fantastic. I wish the other three Stones would just get real with it already....looks more ridiculous with each passing year.

Jagger won't let go of outtakes and unreleased songs for a box set. You think the control freak is gonna let go of the brown dye? NOT A CHANCE.....

Macca looks like someone emptied a tin of Kiwi shoe polish on his head.

Mick, on the other hand, has a great dye-job (if he, in fact, dyes his hair).

Ronnie's got black hair, so that's pretty easy in the continuity department. Plus, he looks like such a cartoon character that as long as he keeps the nose and the rooster cut, he'll always look like "Ronnie".

Keith looked great when he let it go gray on Bridges/No Security. His current shade of reddish brown kind of works with the dreads, fishhooks, bandanas, bald spots, and holes.

For a goofy bastid, Ringo's always had pretty sound hair sense.

Skipping over the rest, John Fogerty is a freak of nature - I saw him on Austin City Limits a year or so ago and he looks like he stepped out of the Ed Sullivan Show. The dude has aged well - or, I should say, hasn't aged at all.

Oh, Bill Wyman's current lid looks ridiculous. Take a page from Charlie's book, Perks.

I think Jagger is making the right decision coloring his hair. His hair looks great, why give it up unless you have to? Keith, on the other hand, is starting to look ridiculous - either get transplants and/or a hairpiece and do it right or just give up and shave it off.

Keith with applied boot polish, looks a bit daft-
the greying look on B2B was great and really suited him.

I know that Macca already told the press that he dyes his hair. It was in the open letter he put out right after his latest Superbowl performance.

Brian May and Paul Rodgers are two others who still have the same hair as 30 years ago. Dylan doesn't count anymore - he still dyes it, but fan reports say when he takes his hat off onstage for a moment it's obvious he's losing his hair.

living with Heather Mills would be enough to turn anyone grey.
- it'll start dropping out soon,
with all the worrying about the divorce settlement.

Come on, if Keith shaved it off he'd look like f**kin' Pinhead from the "Freaks" movie.

Good point. He should try a transplant or a hairpiece. Or hats. Lots and lots of hats.

an Edge-style beanie look, would really suit him.

Can you imagine the soar in RS merchandise sales, if he wore
a tongue-emblazoned one onstage?

can we add Blondie Chaplin to the dye-job list?

Why is he called Blondie, anyway? Obviously it ain't because of the hair color. I assume it's a nickname with some sort of story behind it. Wonder what his real name is, probably Billy Ray Ricky or something like that.

Terence William "Blondie" Chaplin, apparently.

I loved them when they were wearing make-up, and I still love them if they want to dye their hair. If it makes them feel better, they should do it.

If they start getting eye-lifts and face lifts, I might complain.
